<p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>serve as a key liaison by working with schools, parents, community members, faith based organizations and sister agencies to cultivate a culture of communication that links home/school/community while representing CPS in a positive manner.</p> <p>Principal Accountabilities</p> <p>I. Develop partnerships and establish communication with appropriate sister agencies (CAPS, CPD, CYFS and CHA. etc.)</p> <ol start="2"> <li> <p>Introduce Community qnd Faith Based Organizations to their local schools; encourage CBOs and FBO to support their local school</p> </li><li> <p>Provide timely, credible and accurate responses to community stakeholders; reinforce the CPS message that the School is the Center of the community; maintain regular contact with CBOs and, FBOs through site visits, written correspondence, technical assistance and telephohe contact</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule meetings with sister agencies to brief each other on new initiatives</p> </li><li> <p>Identify opportunities to partner with sister agencies on initiatives that will benefit CPS</p> </li><li> <p>Listen and pro-actively qddress community concerns that affect the Chicago Public School system</p> </li><li> <p>Identify within each community, after-school, weekend program gaps</p> </li><li> <p>Work with schools to help provide a friendly and welcoming environment where parents and community members feel they are wanted and welcomed</p> </li><li> <p>Assist schools with creating/establishing a parent room that can be utilized by all parents</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with increasing parental participation in local schools and district wide activities</p> </li><li> <p>Identify opportunities for parents to benefit from Community Based Organizations and Faith Based Organizations initiatives</p> </li><li> <p>Assist schools at the loco! level with effective programs to increase parental</p> </li></ol> <p>involvement</p> <ol start="13"> <li> <p>Assist with coordination:of activities associated with CPS special projects</p> </li><li> <p>Attend and support CPS press events</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with Back-to-Sch(jol Campaign</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with recruitment of Local School Council (LSC) candidates</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with school opening and closing projects</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with special initiatives from other central office departments</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain a database of CBOs and FBOs</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned by the Unit Director</p> </li></ol> <p>Type of Education Required: BA</p> <p>Qualifications for Job: Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to establish effective working relationships with CPS parents, CPS employees, </li></ul> <p>community organizations, faith-based organizations, appointed and elected officials; ability to work in a team environment and independently; strong communication skills</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written; ability to make persuasive public presentations; ability to listen and respond to internal and external customers on a number of issues. </li><li>Ability to accomplish goals using sound analytical and decision-making skills, and to creatively problem-solve complex issues. </li><li>Knowledge of Chicago Public Schools, community and faith based organizations </li></ul> <p>Experience and Number of Years:</p> <ul> <li>Experience managing volunteer initiatives and developing strategies related to, volunteerism, community leadership and community relations programs; knowledge of public relations and public involvement techniques and strategies. </li><li>Experience in working with community and faith based organizations to support their involvement with Chicago Public Schools. </li><li>Active participation with community organizations. </li></ul> <p>Benefits:</p> <p>Health & Wellness: Your Care, Your Choice</p> <p>CPS is committed to providing comprehensive health coverage to our employees and their eligible dependents.
