In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining acoustic signal processing algorithms, models, and software for automatic target recognition, search and pursuit tactics, and guidance and control for MK48/MK54 Torpedo systems. As a senior engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet operational needs and drive technical innovation.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Design, develop, and maintain signal processing algorithms to meet quantitative performance standards. </li><li>Provide acoustic signal processing subject matter expertise and algorithm evaluation for technical working groups. </li><li>Lead system integration and deployment activities. </li><li>Collaborate with software engineers, IT teams, and other departments to implement solutions for novel missions and improve overall system performance. </li><li>Develop and maintain detailed system documentation, including architecture diagrams, processes, and procedures. </li><li>Brief senior government and corporate leadership on capabilities, qualifications and expectations of proposed changes to torpedo guidance and control software. </li><li>Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering field (master's degree preferred). </li><li>10+ years of experience in computer engineering or a related technical role. </li><li>Strong experience with signal processing algorithm design and implementation. </li><li>Familiar with statistical and time-spectral signal exploitation for contact localization, classification and track. </li><li>Experience with AUV guidance and control system engineering and capabilities. </li><li>In-depth knowledge of networking, security practices, and infrastructure management. </li><li>Strong programming skills for model-based design and software implementation on embedded systems (MATLAB, ADA, C). </li><li>Ability to lead projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams. </li><li>Capacity to work in restricted access facilities and maintain compartmentalized information security standards. </li><li>Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. </li><li>Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with DoD, Navy programs is a plus, specifically MK48/MK54 platforms and associated programs. </li><li>Familiarity with passive and active acoustic contact discriminants and exploitation methodology. </li><li>Experience with safety-critical software development standards, hardware-in-the-loop and in-water testing. </li></ul> <p>Work Location: Newport, RI</p> <p>MIKEL offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package that includes Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, Flexible Spending Account (FSA), 401k Retirement Plan, Life Insurance, Disability Insurance, Paid Time Off (PTO), and Tuition Reimbursement.</p> <p>Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance or higher is required at time of hire.
