<p>Description</p> <p>SUMMARY OF POSITION:</p> <p>The Production Process Engineering Manager develops and leads a team of engineers and technicians to establish, optimize, document, implement and maintain capable injection molding processes on the production molding floor. Areas of responsibility include injection molding processing, sprue pickers and robots, end of arm tooling, mold controllers, part containment and material characterization.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned):</p> <ul> <li>Manage a team of up to 12 process engineers and technicians across three shifts, operating 24 hours per day, 6 days per week (occasional weekend work, when necessary, less than 5%). </li><li>Collaborate directly with quality control, operations, tooling and molding maintenance teams to establish and execute short and long-term Production Processing priorities. </li><li>Coordinate and delegate daily activities and duties to team members: scheduling; time tracking; training; development; discipline. </li><li>Partner with product and tooling design engineering teams to deliver optimized processes for new injection molding tools. </li><li>Propose and implement process and equipment improvements to enable higher efficiency, capability, and lower cost on the mold floor. </li><li>Ensure molding processes follow scientific molding principles. </li><li>Develop and implement systems to ensure rigorous Process Standardization and Control in a high-volume production environment including process documentation and documentation management. </li><li>Partner with the Director of Engineering to ensure the long-term health of the Process Development team thru hiring, training and knowledge development, Talent Planning, performance reviews and succession planning. </li><li>Travel: 0-25%, primarily domestic </li></ul> <p>Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline is strongly preferred. </li><li>American Injection Molding Institute (AIM) certification a strong plus. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team to deliver products and/or processes within aggressive timelines meeting challenging requirements. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to implement controlled molding processes into a production manufacturing environment. </li><li>Experience with lot number traceability, engineering grade resins, and specification driven processes. </li><li>Experience in the use of molding simulation software, Moldex3D preferred. </li><li>Experience in Microsoft Office suite of programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint. </li><li>Expert in injection molding equipment; specifying, upgrading, repairing, maintaining, PM systems. </li><li>Expert in plant injection molding auxiliary equipment; mold water/oil thermolators, hot manifold systems, screws, barrels, ceramic barrel heater bands, material drying and conveying, dew-point meters, etc. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
