<p>General Function</p> <p>The T-STEP program contains a community college class supporting the transition to adulthood for 18-21-year-old students with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). T-STEP collaborates with the University of North Carolina TEACCH Autism Program, the North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (NCDVRS), North Carolina community colleges, and the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program. T-step students must first register and be accepted into the program through NCDVRS and TEACCH.</p> <p>T-STEP internships are crafted around practicing the skills learned through the program. Interns have varying duties ranging from online data analysis to stocking supply cabinets.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Performs a variety of standard to moderately complex administrative tasks in support of instructional programs, learning initiatives and operation of an academic unit.</p> <p>Characteristics Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>Provide administrative assistance as needed for the setting. The T-STEP student intern may assist with a variety of tasks. Duties include but not limited to any of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Provides general office assistance, including filing, data entry and mailings. </li><li>Maintains cleanliness and organization of the department. </li><li>Assists with projects or events. </li><li>Greets students and visitors. </li><li>Research and/or reviews information for curriculum, marketing, or to increase the knowledge base of the department. </li><li>Assists with instructional materials such as PowerPoints or documents, and other general administrative tasks and errands. </li><li>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Must be accepted into the T-step program through NCDVRS and TEACCH </li><li>Must be between the ages of 18 to 21 years old. </li><li>Participants must be enrolled in the future-ready diploma track in high school or have graduated with a regular diploma. </li><li>Must be able to access college-level materials. </li><li>All students are expected to work 12 hours per VR/EIPD </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent customer service skills </li><li>Basic verbal and written skills </li><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Office </li><li>Ability to manage confidential information. </li><li>Ability to multitask </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Working Days: Monday - Friday</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>Promote a common purpose consistent with stated College goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment. </li><li>Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance, and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies. </li><li>Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment. </li><li>Present a professional image in word, action, and attire. </li><li>Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with a diverse population while understanding and respecting each other's view of the world, personalities and working styles. </li><li>Conduct oneself in a manner consistent with the College's standards of ethical conduct. </li><li>Apply effective techniques to create working relationships with others to achieve common goals; successfully communicate and collaborate with others to achieve goals. </li><li>Demonstrate skills necessary to look at situations and processes critically to make recommendations for improvement. </li><li>Performs other job-related duties as assigned in support of the College's goals and core values. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Typical office environment</p>
