<p>Mercy Community Healthcare has an opening for an Assistant Director of Behavioral Health in Franklin, TN. We are looking for enthusiastic people with a passion for making a difference in the lives of those we serve in our community. This position provides case management services to patients and their families, addressing medical needs as well as social determinants of health.</p> <p>Mercy's Mission: The mission of Mercy Community Healthcare is to reflect the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by providing excellent healthcare to ALL and support to their families. We provide care to the uninsured, underinsured and insured through pediatric and adult primary care, mental and behavioral health services, and care coordination.</p> <p>Key Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Leadership & Program Oversight:</p> <ul> <li>Lead day-to-day operations for assigned service line (clinic-based counseling, integrated care, or community programs). Cross department leadership may be needed at times. </li><li>Implement departmental priorities, workflows, templates, documentation standards, and operational procedures. </li><li>Support program fidelity for specialty behavioral health programs through Program Coordinators. </li><li>Facilitate communication across clinical teams to maintain cohesion, quality, and mission alignment. </li><li>Maintain workflows, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing solutions in collaboration with the Director. </li><li>Support Program Coordinators in maintaining fidelity, workflows, and training. </li><li>Ensure productivity expectations are met across clinicians. </li></ul> <p>Staff Supervision & Development:</p> <ul> <li>Provide clinical and administrative supervision to therapists, BHCs, care managers, or community clinicians in assigned division. </li><li>Lead regular supervision meetings, check-ins, and documentation reviews. </li><li>Support/facilitate onboarding, orientation, skill development, and growth plans for team members. </li><li>Provide coaching, guidance, conflict mediation, and performance support. </li><li>Participate in talent acquisition process (interviewing, candidate selection recommendation, etc.) with the Director. </li></ul> <p>Quality, Fidelity, & Documentation Oversight:</p> <ul> <li>Ensure documentation meets HRSA, TennCare, insurance, and Mercy standards. </li><li>Monitor clinical documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and quality. </li><li>Review and track compliance with required measures (PHQ-9, C-SSRS, treatment planning, warm handoff documentation, CoCM metrics, etc.). </li><li>Lead or support fidelity checks for PCIT, MAT counseling, trauma programs, and community partnerships. </li><li>Participate in quality improvement initiatives and audits. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration & Communication</p> <ul> <li>Serve as primary liaison between assigned team and Director. </li><li>Coordinate with medical providers, psychiatry providers, school leaders, or community partners depending on service area. </li><li>Communicate expectations clearly, consistently, and compassionately. </li><li>Support interdisciplinary collaboration and integrated workflows. </li></ul> <p>Clinical Services</p> <ul> <li>Maintain a clinical caseload to remain grounded in clinical realities. </li><li>Provide therapy or BHC/brief intervention services depending on the AD's service line. </li><li>Offer clinical consultation on complex cases to clinicians within the assigned division. </li><li>Support crisis intervention workflows, including safety planning and use of C-SSRS. </li></ul> <p>Administrative Functions</p> <ul> <li>Assist with scheduling, staffing allocations, and workflow adjustments. </li><li>Monitor productivity, utilization, and caseload distribution. </li><li>Support reporting for grants, dashboards, or program evaluations. </li><li>Ensure alignment with Mercy policies, HR standards, and regulatory requirements. </li></ul> <p>Culture Building</p> <ul> <li>Model Christ-centered leadership characterized by humility, compassion, and integrity. </li><li>Support ethical, culturally sensitive faith integration when desired by patients. </li><li>Help maintain a supportive, mission-aligned team culture. </li></ul> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Education: Master's degree in social work, clinical psychology or related field required. Must be licensed in TN in one of the following disciplines: LMFT, LPC-MHSP, LCSW, or clinical psychology.</p> <p>Experience: Must be able to be contracted with most insurance payers. At least five (5) years post graduate work experience in a clinical setting preferred. Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Experience in FQHCs, CMHCs, integrated care, or community-based behavioral health preferred. The position includes the risk of exposure to communicable diseases; therefore, the therapist must receive training on/and then practice universal health precautions.</p> <p>Functional Competencies: Strong verbal and written communication skills, crisis management, relational leadership, diagnostic and assessment skills, flexibility and change, lifelong learning, organization skills, prioritization skills, customer service, teamwork, inclusion, compassion, and empathy.</p>
