<p>Job Type: Regular</p> <p>Time Type: Full time</p> <p>Work Shift: Day (United States of America)</p> <p>FLSA Status: Exempt</p> <p>When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you're making a difference in people's lives.</p> <p>Pharmacy Technician BILH Systemwide Compounding Specialist Hybrid / Remote Westwood, MA</p> <p>Under the direction of the Training and Education Director, the System Compounding Specialist leads the system in ensuring adherence to United States Pharmacopeia (USP) standards, particularly those related to sterile compounding (USP), hazardous drug handling (USP), and other relevant USP chapters across the Beth Israel Lahey Health System. The System Compounding Specialist will provide field support for sterile compounding standardization processes, improved efficiencies & sharing of best practices, and ensure compliance with risk management practices. The System Compounding Specialist would support practices to ensure adherence to all regulating bodies and assist in maintaining the quality and safety of pharmaceutical compounding and handling processes while validating that the organization meets all applicable USP standards as well as Federal and State regulatory requirements.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Pharmacy Technician BILH Systemwide Compounding Specialist Hybrid / Remote Westwood, MA</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Support all entities participating in USP <797> a set of standards established for compounding sterile drug preparation and USP <800> a set of standards for the safe handling of hazardous drugs in healthcare activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Support each entity that has a Clean Room (area for sterile compounding) in initial review and ongoing preparation by conducting a mock inspection in preparation for annual Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy (MABORP) inspections using the MABORP tool/checklist for licensure.</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as Liaison for Board of Pharmacy Inspections and any follow up that may be needed post Inspection</p> </li><li> <p>Support System Environmental monitoring per regulations that include but not limited to, temperature, humidity, air exchanges and aseptic cleaning schedule by observation. Assist with required training and competencies. Will assist in the event of any clean room excursions including reporting excursions to the Board, as well as developing and implementing corrective action plans to solve the environment issue.</p> </li><li> <p>Support System Media Fill testing (annual didactic competency) by training staff advisors and evaluating test results (Media)</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for system data collection and reporting including environmental monitoring results and certification results of clean rooms to include hoods and rooms.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with annual MABORP report using data reported during the year.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement system wide vendors for all pharmacy products, where applicable related to sterile compounding to streamline processes and offer efficiencies and cost savings for the system. Will act as primary contact person for all vendors.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement system wide Simplifi 797(web based tool used to optimize operations and help with closed use compliance support) guidelines to maximize efficiency and standardization in all clean rooms.</p> </li></ol> <p>Required Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>High School diploma or GED required.</p> </li><li> <p>Massachusetts registered pharmacy technician license required (in good standing)</p> </li><li> <p>Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT)</p> </li><li> <p>Certified Sterile Products Technician (CSPT)</p> </li><li> <p>At least 5 years of work experience in hospital pharmacy/sterile compounding environment required (including leadership, project management, and process improvement)</p> </li><li> <p>Extensive knowledge of USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> as well as federal and state regulatory compliance requirements</p> </li></ol> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Bachelor's Degree</p> </li><li> <p>Hazardous Drug Management certification</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications. Skills in producing complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain records.</p> </li></ol> <p>Competencies:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Decision Making: Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation. May make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity and importance.</p> </li><li> <p>Problem Solving: Ability to address problems that are varied requiring analysis or interpretation of the situation using direct observation, knowledge and skills based on general precedents.</p> </li><li> <p>Independence of Action: Ability to set goals and determines how to accomplish defined results with some guidelines. Manager/Director provides broad guidance and overall direction.</p> </li><li> <p>Written Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written English with internal and external customers.</p> </li><li> <p>Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments. Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse groups of professionals through the BILH pharmacy system</p> </li><li> <p>Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.</p> </li></ol> <p>Social/Environmental Requirements:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.</p> </li><li> <p>Work is varied every day and the employee needs to be adaptable to respond to these changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to be able to travel to all BILH locations for support</p> </li><li> <p>Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions</p> </li></ol> <p>o Daily: No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions</p> <ol start="5"> <li>Health Care Status: NHCW: No patient contact. Health Care Worker Status may vary by department. </li></ol> <p>Sensory Requirements:</p> <p>Close work (paperwork, visual examination), Color vision/perception, Visual clarity <3 feet, Conversation, Monitoring Equipment, Telephone.</p> <p></p> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling objects. Sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally.</p> <p>The job requires frequent sitting. Keyboard use.
