<p>ProMedica Toledo Hospital is one of the largest acute-care facilities in the region. Our 794-bed hospital is staffed by more than 4,800 professional healthcare employees who serve a 27-county area throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. We also have the area's largest board-certified medical staff, which is made up of more than 1,000 primary care and specialty physicians. In fact, we're the only hospital in northwest Ohio to receive this honor.</p> <p>Basic Purpose:</p> <p>Under the direction of a radiologist, performs complex professional procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Obtains high quality radiographs, which are interpreted by a radiologist in the evaluation of disease or abnormality. Assists radiologists or other staff physicians in the performance of diagnostic radiologic procedures whenever required. Includes performing mammography, general x-ray and Dexa.</p> <p>Primary Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrates knowledge and skills to utilize radiologic equipment and computerized imaging systems. Selects proper technical factors based on age, size, weight, and anatomical differences and general health status of various age groups for both general diagnostic radiology and mammography. </li><li>Utilizes proper radiation protection, accessory devices and age-appropriate immobilizers to produce high quality radiographic images under the philosophy of ALARA. </li><li>Acquires images by means of computed or digital radiography. Critiques images for diagnostic quality. </li><li>Demonstrates the ability and knowledge to identify educational needs, obtain patient history, and provide information in easily understood terminology with clear communication style about procedures and care to patients of carious ages. Determines appropriateness of procedure based on above.Maintains department equipment facilities in safe and clean condition. Reports equipment malfunctions. Performs quality controls check as required. </li><li>Maintains all MQSA requirements. Performs minimum of 200 mammograms every two (2) years. Acquired fifteen (15) CE points specific to mammography every three (3) years. </li><li>Demonstrates competency in the use of the following equipment and in physical comfort measures and psychosocial issue when giving care to include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients: </li><li>General radiographic equipment and procedures. </li><li>Mammographic equipment and procedures. </li><li>Demonstrates competency in using the radiology information and imaging systems (RIS, PACS, etc.) for the purpose of correctly ordering exams, supplies, and other data input. </li><li>Demonstrates high level of care, courtesy, and cooperation. Educates patient about their procedure and ensures patients and their families' comfort and needs are appropriately addressed in a dignified, confidential manner. </li><li>Maintains confidentiality of all patient data. </li><li>Demonstrates awareness of safety standards for self and assigned area. </li><li>Follows organization's mission and values of customer service. </li><li>Must have experience in breast imaging </li><li>Must be experienced in Mammography, General x-ray and Dexa </li><li>Regular rotations at ProMedica Breast Care and other off-site facilities </li><li>Performs other related duties/tasks as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li>General Information/Qualifications: </li><li>Must be a high school graduate. </li><li>Must have completed formal radiologic technology training an at AMA approved school. </li><li>Must be registered by the ARRT and in mammography. If registry eligible, must pass registry within one year of accepting the position (see addendum) ; if performing in more than one modality and registry eligible, must pass registry within one year of accepting additional responsibilities (see addendum). </li><li>Must be CPR certified. </li><li>Must be able to cope with stressful situations and handle deadlines in a demanding, fast-paced medical environment. </li><li>Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations; and to handle stooping, standing, walking, and lifting as required by the position. </li><li>Must be able to understand directions, communicate and respond to inquiries, requires effective interpersonal skills. </li><li>Must be competent in use of facility communication systems and equipment (e.g. phones, fax machines, etc.) </li><li>Must be able to input and retrieve information from radiological or other medical equipment and computerized systems. </li><li>Must be able to tolerate possible exposure to processor chemicals, radiation and electrical hazards, and blood borne pathogens or bodily fluids; must be able to tolerate wearing heavy protective garments for extended periods of time. </li><li>Must be able to move, lift, or carry light objects frequently and move with assistance "very heavy" materials and/or patients occasionally. </li></ul> <p>The above list of accountabilities is intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by the incumbent; it should not be considered exhaustive.</p> <p>ProMedica is a mission-based, not-for-profit integrated healthcare organizational headquartered in Toledo, Ohio.
