<p>Right-of-Way Grounds Maintenance Operator (Automotive Equipment Operator 1)</p> <p>Location: 4550 126th Avenue North Clearwater, Florida 33762</p> <p>Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.</p> <p>Apply to be a proud employee of the Pinellas County Public Works Landscape Services grounds maintenance team. We are currently accepting applications for an experienced, safety-conscious Right-of-Way Grounds Maintenance Operator.</p> <p>Landscape Services performs essential grounds maintenance activities across county-owned rights-of-way, roadway medians, ponds, and sidewalks-maintaining more than 1,075 acres during each mowing cycle.</p> <p>What Would You Do?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Operates equipment in the assignments of ground maintenance services for public right-of-way, roadway medians, ponds or other various County owned properties.</p> </li><li> <p>Operates zero-turn lawn mowers, line trimmers, edger's, blowers, tractors, skid loaders, wood chippers, truck and trailer and other related vegetation management equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs manual labor and will utilize hand tools to supplement equipment operations at times.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs removal of non-purposeful or invasive vegetation within public right-of-ways, medians, sidewalk clearing or other County owned properties through manual labor or equipment at times.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs daily maintenance inspections, lubrication/grease, sharpen mower blades daily and other minor maintenance work on equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates with the Field Operations Supervisor to determine work priorities and resolve work problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Picks up and hauls debris as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates from a computer, cell phone, and written reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides labor or equipment operation assistance to Urban Forestry as needed for right-of-way tree maintenance or unwanted vegetation removal activities..</p> </li></ul> <p>What Do You Need To Have?</p> <ul> <li>Six (6) months of experience in commercial landscape maintenance and/or experience maintaining roadway right-of-way, road medians; or </li><li>A Public Works Academy training certificate for equipment operators; or </li><li>An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. </li><li>A Pinellas County employee equipment certification that includes experience or training on job related equipment(s); or </li><li>Physical strength and have the ability to perform medium to heavy manual labor tasks </li><li>Willing and able to obtain and maintain a Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Certification within 6 months of hire. </li><li>Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License upon hire with eligibility based upon evaluation of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) driving report. </li><li>Other highly desirable knowledge, skills, abilities, and credentials relevant to a position. </li><li>Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations. </li><li>Mandatory work schedules before, during and after any disaster or storm as directed by the Public Works director </li></ul> <p>Highly Desirable</p> <ul> <li>FNGLA Certified Horticulture Professional (FCHP) </li><li>Pesticide Applicators License </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and use of dump and flatbed trucks, tractors, and related public works equipment;</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of the operation and repair of small to medium equipment;</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of component parts, operating principles, and maintenance needs of medium to heavy equipment;</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions in the operation of medium to heavy equipment;</p> </li><li> <p>Skill in the operation of medium to heavy automotive, maintenance, and construction equipment;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to make emergency repairs to motor driven equipment;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work under adverse weather conditions and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to operate medium sized equipment and perform manual labor.</p> </li></ul> <p>Why Choose Pinellas County?</p> <p>Our benefits rank among the top in the area!</p> <ul> <li> <p>Looking for a strong retirement?
