<p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Travel to the location of the loss to inspect damaged property (homes, businesses, or other structures). </li><li>Assess damage caused by perils such as fire, windstorm, hail, water, theft, and vandalism. </li><li>Capture and document detailed photographs, measurements, and descriptions of the damage. </li><li>Prepare comprehensive reports and estimates for property repair or replacement costs. </li><li>Use estimating software (such as Xactimate) to generate detailed estimates of repair. </li><li>Work with contractors, engineers, and other professionals to determine repair scope. </li><li>Review the terms of the insurance policy to determine coverage and exclusions. </li><li>Assess total loss situations and determine settlement value based on policy limits. </li><li>Maintain accurate and detailed records of all claim activity, inspections, and communications. </li><li>Prepare and submit timely reports, including findings, estimates, and recommendations for claims settlement. </li><li>Communicate with policyholders, contractors, and repair companies regarding the scope of work and cost of repairs. </li><li>Negotiate settlements with policyholders and third parties based on policy coverage and damage assessment. </li><li>Ensure timely resolution of claims while maintaining customer satisfaction. </li><li>Work closely with internal claims teams, underwriters, and management to ensure proper handling of claims. </li><li>Collaborate with other adjusters, claims examiners, and legal teams, when necessary, especially for complex or high-value claims. </li><li>Serve as the primary point of contact for policyholders during the claims process. </li><li>Provide guidance and explain the claims process, policy coverage, and resolution options to policyholders. </li><li>Ensure all claims handling practices comply with state and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures. </li><li>Stay updated on changes in insurance laws and best practices for claims handling. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in a related field is a plus. </li><li>5 - 10 years prior experience as a property adjuster or in a similar role is preferred. </li><li>Familiarity with claims management software and estimating software like Xactimate. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication abilities. </li><li>Ability to assess damage, review policy language, and make sound decisions regarding claim outcomes. </li><li>A focus on delivering excellent service to policyholders during difficult times. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to document findings thoroughly. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. </li><li>Requires travel to various locations to inspect damage. </li><li>Must be comfortable working in a variety of conditions (outdoors, damaged structures, etc.). </li><li>Flexible work hours may be required, especially following natural disasters or high claim volume periods. </li></ul> <p>This role is crucial for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the claims department and supporting the organization's field appraisal function.
