<p>Given the volatile nature of higher education, a seasoned academic leader is needed to advance a bold and aggressive student success initiative at Mitchell College. As the lead partner in advancing the president's strategic agenda, the Provost is pivotal in partnering with senior leaders across the institution to drive academic growth, increase retention, persistence, and completion rates of all students, and grow industry-demand programs that align with the institution's financial model for long-term viability.</p> <p>The Provost is an experienced leader who serves in the president's absence and has knowledge/experience in achieving retention/persistence goals and improving completion rates in higher education. Further expertise in academic budget analysis, distance education, innovative program delivery models, and experience serving a broad range of students, including students with varying levels of learning differences, is desired.</p> <p>As Provost, the position is responsible for the overall direction of the college's academic and student success programs. As an experienced educational leader, this individual must anticipate future pressing developments in higher education and their impact on the college, identify the challenges and opportunities they pose, and evaluate the needs inherent in meeting those challenges, creatively and effectively. The Provost is responsible for ensuring the academic quality of all departments, programs, and services within the educational affairs division through appropriating necessary resources, overseeing hiring and evaluation activities, and establishing and coordinating policies and priorities.</p> <p>The Provost is knowledgeable and experienced in academic-financial management, including advocating and developing academic program budgets and aligning academic program growth with the institutional financial model.</p> <p>The Provost authorizes the creation of faculty and academic staff positions as appropriate to the plans and priorities of the academic affairs unit, and ensures that the allocation of resources to the various programs within the division reflects established priorities. The Provost oversees the ongoing evaluation of personnel and assessment of programs to ensure appropriate levels of quality throughout the academic affairs division of the college, Additionally, the Provost oversees the development of the strategic plan for academic affairs, assigns responsibilities for its implementation, reviews academic policies for their consistency aligned with the strategic plan and the college's mission, and has responsibility for the overall evaluation of the plan's implementation and outcomes. The Provost coordinates initiatives and ongoing programs across all areas of academic affairs and guides the establishment of annual and long-term priorities.</p> <p>The Provost will embrace workforce-focused initiatives that connect to the college's Mitchell Ability Model, promote, and integrate digital and experiential learning opportunities across the curriculum and between academic disciplines. As an executive leader, the provost will have knowledge, awareness and experience serving exceptional learners, strong understanding of technology to drive innovation, experience in distance education programming, building clinical and graduate programs, along with connecting emerging academic programs to corporate and organizational partnerships, to further advance the college as a leader in workforce higher education.</p> <p>The Provost must have a strong track record of successfully managing a complex academic enterprise. This energetic leader should be a flexible, transparent communicator who is all-embracing, supportive, and collaborative.</p> <p>The provost will report directly to the President and serve as a senior member of the President's cabinet. Grounded in a commitment to successful and equitable student outcomes, the Provost will be an experienced strategic leader who promotes academic excellence, innovation, program development, and integrity.</p> <p>Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <p>Leadership:</p> <ul> <li>Serves in the absence of the president </li><li>Successfully develops and implements an institution-wide retention, persistence, and completion plan, and communicates to all institutional constituents. </li><li>Support the college's mission, vision, and strategic plan goals. </li><li>Serves as part of the President's Cabinet and as the primary academic advocate to all executive levels; </li><li>Provides strong, dynamic academic and administrative leadership, fosters a collegial environment, which encourages scholarship, teaching, and learning excellence; </li><li>Provides bold strategic vision to propel the college's academic programs into the future; </li><li>Experienced with developing and implementing distance education modalities, along with developing academic partnerships to enhance program development and growth; </li><li>Maintain highly effective communication and working relationships with other executive-level cabinet members and employees of the college, keeping them informed of current activities and working collaboratively to achieve institutional priorities in a spirit of joint endeavor </li><li>Oversee the creation and implementation of annual operational budgets/plans for each area of supervision and provide administrative oversight to each area. </li><li>Communicate effectively with stakeholders. </li><li>Provide direction and supervision of the units and directors within the Academic Affairs Division </li><li>Direct, develop, coach, and evaluate direct reports and team members, ensuring team members support Mitchell's mission, vision, and values. </li></ul> <p>Academic Program Development and Quality Oversight:</p> <ul> <li>To support the college's strategic priorities, partner with faculty to plan, develop, execute, and assess academic programs. </li><li>Advocates and promotes quality instruction, student success, integrated planning, and the </li></ul> <p>expansion of Student Learning Outcomes to meet the educational needs of all learners.</p> <ul> <li>Provides transformational academic leadership and vision in instruction and program development, bold academic initiatives, non-traditional programs, including the Mitchell Hub, to yield non-credit student growth, locally, regionally, and nationally; </li><li>Oversee the systematic and routine assessment of all academic programs to ensure continuous improvement. Work effectively with faculty to implement necessary improvements. </li><li>Effectively and accurately communicate the interests and needs of academic areas to the administration, and conversely, communicate institutional interests and needs to faculty and staff. </li><li>Works with faculty and faculty leadership to develop the educational program, evaluate faculty, and provide additional support for academic programs. </li></ul> <p>Regulatory and Accreditation</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the primary contact for local, state, and federal agencies in matters of the academic enterprise. </li><li>Provide oversight of Student Learning Outcomes assessment, and college-wide and programmatic accreditation. </li></ul> <p>Functional Oversight</p> <ul> <li>Oversee the Office of Institutional Effectiveness </li><li>Oversee the Disabilities Services function and staff </li><li>Oversee the Bentsen Learning Center function and staff </li><li>Oversee the Academic Advising and staff </li><li>Office of the Registrar </li><li>The Mitchell Hub </li><li>Partner with Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and Thames at Mitchell </li></ul> <p>Required Education, Experience, and KSAs:</p> <p>§ Doctorate preferred in an area relevant to the Mitchell College mission and vision;</p> <p>§ Experienced senior executive with multiple years of successful student success outcomes, to include meeting retention, persistence, and graduation goals</p> <p>§ Must be knowledgeable about accreditation processes and procedures, accreditation, and assessment.</p> <p>§ Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, strong fiscal management linking resource allocation to planning and priorities (including data-driven decision-making), and leading the ongoing efforts of the college to meet accreditation standards;</p> <p>§ Five years of senior administrative level leadership and experience in higher education;</p> <p>§ Demonstrated advocacy for and addressing the needs of the underprepared student;</p> <p>§ Demonstrated commitment to academic quality and standards; demonstrated support for faculty and staff development;</p> <p>§ Teaching experience in higher education with a demonstrated student-centered philosophy of education;</p> <p>§ Demonstrated support for and encouragement of faculty and student scholarship;</p> <p>§ Demonstrated skill in respectful, sensitive communication that embraces all;</p> <p>§ Values and promotes a people-centered, collegial, and welcoming environment;</p> <p>§ Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, executive leadership environment.</p> <p>§ Proven record of building, empowering, and leading collaborative work groups/ teams.</p> <p>§ Encompasses a passion and intellectual drive to be involved in all aspects of the broader campus community and the surrounding community.</p> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
