<p>Lead Maintenance Mechanic JobID: 6744</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Maintenance/Custodial/Maintenance Mechanic II</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>7/23/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Districtwide</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Purpose: The Lead Maintenance Mechanic serves as an organizational and operational leader, helping to triage, prioritize and assign tasks to a small Maintenance Mechanic team, and insures proper and appropriate procedures and policies are employed in the Mechanic operations. As a working member of the Maintenance Mechanic team, the Mechanic who has been selected as the Lead does not evaluate or discipline, but rather provides feedback the Director of Sites & Facilities.</p> <p>Examples of Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Reviews and prioritizes work orders and instructions for Maintenance Mechanic work that comes from the Director of Sites and Facilities, the foreman, and/or directly from building administrators, either verbally or in writing. </li><li>Assigns orders to the team of Maintenance Mechanics, based on prioritization and available resources. Provides feedback on work performed as necessary, but does not engage in evaluation or discipline. </li><li>As a Maintenance Mechanic, the Lead also performs all maintenance work as required, using all hand tools and power tools as necessary. </li><li>Inspects equipment and machinery to determine proper functioning and reports recommendations to the Director of Sites and Facilities or the foreman. </li><li>Uses all trade related diagnostic equipment to insure proper operation and calibration of equipment and machinery. </li><li>Performs building maintenance and alteration work. </li><li>Moves equipment, furnishings, and other district items as needed. </li><li>Assists with snow removal. </li><li>Makes repairs to all department equipment as needed. </li><li>Ability to work under emergency conditions to effect repairs with expediency and due consideration of clients and conditions. </li><li>Other related projects within this general description of duties may be assigned by the Director. </li></ul> <p>JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Able to apply for local building permits. </li><li>Responds to, as needed at any time for emergency calls, overtime, or special needs falling out of normal working hours. </li><li>Project a positive image for the school district at all times. </li><li>Performs related duties as required </li><li>Must possess a thorough knowledge of building codes and mechanical repair trade. </li><li>Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions. </li><li>Must have ability to work independently as well as knowledge of electric, plumbing, drywall repair, masonry work, and carpentry. </li><li>Must demonstrate the ability to work from sketches, plans, read and interpret blue prints and schematics and to understand and effectively follow oral and written instructions. </li><li>Must demonstrate skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment common to the trades. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to lead others when being assisted by others within the class or related classes. </li><li>Must be a high school or trade school graduate. </li><li>Must have five (5) years experience in the trades. </li><li>Two (2) years experience in commercial/industrial maintenance preferred, some experience in educational facilities a plus. </li></ul> <p>Channel of Authority/Organizational Relationships</p> <p>The Lead Maintenance Mechanic reports to the Director of Sites and Facilities.</p> <p>WAGES: Grade 6 in the Collective Bargaining Agreement</p> <p>Work Year: 52 weeks; 6:30am - 3:00pm; Monday-Friday</p> <p>Application Procedure:</p> <p>Apply online at www.danbury.k12.ct.us</p>
