<p>Summary Description:</p> <p>Under direction of the Transportation Bus Operations Coordinator, is responsible for all elements of school transportation services in an assigned depot location. Work of the class involves responsibility for establishing and revising bus schedules and routes which satisfy the needs of both the schools and the community. Major responsibilities include supervision of mid-level management staff and working with principals in the coordination of bus schedules to meet transportation needs of the schools' programs in an assigned area. Nature of work involves regular observance of bus operations for adherence to safety standards and prescribed schedules. Physical Demands: Ability to handle stressful situations. Special Requirements: Must be willing to work irregular hours during emergencies. Must maintain certification as a Maryland school bus operator.</p> <p>Knowledge Skills Abilities:</p> <p>Considerable knowledge of the scheduling, routing, inspection and safe operation of school buses. Basic knowledge of the maintenance and repair of school buses. Thorough knowledge of the street and road system in the geographic area of assignment. Ability to maintain effective school transportation services program in an assigned area, including the planning and supervising of bus routes and schedules. Ability to resolve school transportation problems on a timely basis and to courteously and effectively deal with school officials, parents, and others. Ability to supervise a large number of employees. Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills. Demonstrated ability to supervise and evaluate staff and implement the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS) and thorough knowledge of PAR system. Knowledge and application of the six leadership standards that have been established for the Montgomery County Association of Administrators and Principals (MCAAP/MCBOA) Professional Growth System (PGS).</p> <p>Education Training Experience:</p> <p>High school diploma or GED required. Bachelors degree preferred. College level course work in transportation, management, or other related field. Progressively responsible experience in the scheduling, routing, inspection and operation of school transportation programs or similar fleet transportation systems. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.Certificate License:Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Maryland Class B Commercial Driver's License (air brake, passenger and school bus endorsements), or equivalent.</p>
