<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <ul> <li>High School Teacher - CREC's Impact Academy </li><li>Mathematics Teacher </li></ul> <p>Location: CREC Magnet School Office</p> <p>Date Available: 2024-2025 School Year</p> <p>Impact Academy Teacher (High School)</p> <p>The Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) is seeking a highly qualified, innovative mathematics teacher for Impact Academy, a non-traditional high school committed to doing high school differently.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have experience with project-based learning and a strong understanding of real-world mathematics applications. This position offers a unique opportunity to design and implement an experiential, hands-on mathematics curriculum that engages students through meaningful, student-centered learning. A key focus will be developing a project-based curriculum that enhances both academic outcomes and social-emotional growth. Impact Academy is grounded in the principles of Positive Youth Development and is dedicated to serving the diverse needs, interests, and passions of high school-aged students. We seek an educator who is creative, flexible, and passionate about fostering strong student relationships and promoting whole-child development through community connections and innovative teaching practices.</p> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Prepare and deliver mathematics-based project-based learning curriculum and instruction;</p> </li><li> <p>Incorporate field experiences in the local community on a regular basis;</p> </li><li> <p>Build community partnerships with local organizations to support mathematics learning and engagement for students through a place-based learning model.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate social-emotional lessons and activities in conjunction with Impact Academy colleagues;</p> </li><li> <p>Design and implement team-building activities for small and large groups;</p> </li><li> <p>Support students in the completion of Personal Projects toward graduation goals;</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in all related meetings and provide appropriate feedback to students and families;</p> </li><li> <p>Travel by foot, city bus, or other means of transportation to facilitate field experiences in the community with students;</p> </li><li> <p>Willingness to obtain CT drivers license endorsement to transport students in CREC vehicles.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications Profile:</p> <p>Certification/License:</p> <p>Connecticut State Certification (029 Mathematics)</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.</p> <p>Masters Degree in related areas preferred.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>The qualified candidate should have experience working within a diverse high school.</p> <ul> <li>Successful prior teaching experience for the applicable grade level (high school) preferred. </li></ul> <p>To access the job description and salary range please click https://www.crec.org/careers/jobs.php</p> <p>JOB ID 13250 @ CREC: External Job Opportunities (Careers)</p>
