OED focuses on the development and implementation of comprehensive energy planning for the state that utilizes all of Indiana's energy resources and supports a strong, dynamic, and growing economy. OED strives to be a national leader in the creation of innovative policy solutions and programs for affordable, reliable energy.</p> <p>Role Overview:</p> <p>The Education and Outreach Manager leads statewide engagement on energy issues by developing and implementing stakeholder engagement strategies that support Indiana's energy policy goals. The role translates complex energy policies into clear educational materials for audiences such as community leaders, legislators, industry representatives, and the public. Focus areas include new energy resources (such as nuclear), energy infrastructure, and state and local energy regulations. The manager serves as a technical resource and leads engagement efforts across the state. The work involves complex program elements requiring strong analytical skills and sound judgment. While guidelines exist, they require broad interpretation and thoughtful application.</p> <p>The Manager provides guidance and recommendations on internal and external engagement that can affect overall agency operations. Working independently under agency leadership, the Manager contributes significantly to the development, execution, and communication of key programs and may represent OED in state, regional, or national settings. You will frequently work with OED staff, other state agencies, local government, members of the energy industry, and others. This includes working with state and local elected officials, members of the media, and residents of the state. Confidentiality is required.</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>The salary for this position traditionally starts at $59,800.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.</p> <p>Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.</p> <p>A Day in the Life:</p> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Lead the agency's development and execution of comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategies that align with the State's energy agenda and OED's objectives, which may include writing and developing strategic plans, conducting stakeholder engagement and outreach, and providing subject matter expertise and technical assistance to the agency's policy and communication teams. </li><li>Support state energy initiatives including but not limited to new energy resource development, modernization of energy infrastructure, and enhancing grid reliability through the creation of education and outreach materials and employing a variety of effective communication strategies. </li><li>Establish, measure, and monitor key performance indicators and the actions needed to achieve them. </li><li>Design and implement stakeholder engagement frameworks for energy initiatives, including the Strategic Energy Growth Task Force, Nuclear Indiana Coalition, and other advisory bodies. </li><li>Coordinate education and outreach with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to state agencies, utility industry representatives, and economic development organizations. Includes the development of protocols for consistent messaging across diverse stakeholder groups while addressing their unique information needs and perspectives. </li><li>Develop high-quality content to support energy initiatives such as policy briefs, executive summaries, presentations, infographics, data visualizations, and social media content. Content must be technically accurate while maintaining accessibility for non-technical audiences. May require consultation with technical experts and/or independently researching to produce materials. </li><li>Serve as an agency lead representative in state and local meetings, presenting and speaking with stakeholders throughout the state on Indiana's energy policy priorities, objectives, and initiatives tailored to the needs of the audience. </li><li>Develop strategies to deliver information and coordinate data sharing with state and federal agencies, industry groups, stakeholders, and the public, specifically related to Indiana energy priorities. </li><li>Maintain awareness of regulatory, economic, funding opportunities, and other issues affecting Indiana's energy ecosystem. </li><li>Participate in site visits to work with energy stakeholders. </li><li>Coordinate with grant management staff for energy-related funding programs and projects that can accompany stakeholder engagement efforts. </li></ul> <p>The job profile is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
