<p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Position: Technology Support Specialist</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's or bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Instructional Technology, or a related field or at least one year of experience in a school/district-based technical support position. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience that provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered. </li><li>Strong, clear, and effective written and verbal communication, human relations, customer service, and technology/computer skills. </li><li>Experience with Mobile Device Management systems (Jamf), Google Workspace, or Active Directory. </li><li>Experience with Chromebooks and ChromeOS (including enrollment, troubleshooting, and basic repairs). </li><li>Audio/visual experience with projectors, speakers, and document/web cameras. </li><li>Driven self-starter, highly organized, and able to perform detailed work accurately and efficiently within strict deadlines. </li><li>Demonstrates ability to manage complex/varied tasks simultaneously with confidentiality and a high degree of personal and professional integrity. Demonstrates ability to problem solve. </li><li>Must be committed to diversity and present a personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences regarding race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and socio-economic circumstance. </li><li>Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver's license and reliable transportation to commute to work location. </li></ul> <p>Job Goals: This position primarily provides the district's Level 1 technical and application support. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate technical solutions in a user-friendly, professional manner and assist the Technology Department team in brainstorming creative solutions to system-wide issues. The successful candidate will strive to support an environment of high-quality teaching and learning in all of its forms.</p> <p>Essential Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>This position is based in the district's Technology Department, with support and services to the building locations where dispatched </li><li>Accurately track District staff problems and requests in the HelpDesk ticketing system to ensure responsive follow-up and completion of assigned tasks. </li><li>Set up, configure, and deploy new Staff devices. </li><li>Set up, deploy, and repair Chromebooks for Staff and Students. </li><li>Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair existing workstations and related hardware. </li><li>Support State Testing throughout the District for end-user support </li><li>Respond to and collaborate in resolving Helpdesk tickets </li><li>Problem analysis, research (where required), and resolution for end users, including hardware, operating system, and software for laptops and desktops. Additional supported hardware includes printers, copiers, projectors, and other A/V equipment. </li><li>Work collaboratively with other IT personnel in the Technology Department. </li><li>Advocate and adhere to the IT strategies, hardware and software standards, security policies, and operational procedures of the Technology Department and the District to ensure policies are consistently applied to all schools in the district. </li><li>Maintain a clean, safe work area and professional appearance. </li><li>Other duties as defined by the Director of Finance & Operations or Manager of IT Operations. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <p>Work is performed in an office environment. Most work is performed in a moderately noisy environment, with frequent interruptions. Operate computer, printer, telephone, copier, facsimile machine, scanner, postage machine, and all other standard office equipment. Make frequent contact with school department staff, the public, students, and parents/guardians. Contacts require a high degree of tact and confidentiality.</p> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <p>The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to work at a desk, regularly convey information to school employees and the public; regularly move about inside the office to access file cabinets and office machinery, and traverse stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds, such as supplies, folders, and books. Ability to operate a computer at an efficient speed and to view computer screens for extended periods. Requires the ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, shapes, and sounds associated with job-related objects, materials, and tasks.
