<p>Summary:</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the Director of Imaging Operations and in accordance with established policies and procedures organizes directs coordinates and supervises the specialty imaging staff and operations (CT MRI Ultrasound Mammography Vascular Interventional Radiography Nuclear Medicine/Nuclear Cardiology Radiology The Miriam Hospital?s Diagnostic Imaging Center (MDIC) East Providence Imaging and Clerical Services as appropriate). Functions as a resource person providing guidance and instruction while administering policies and procedures. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age specific needs of the patient. Fosters patient and family centered care and nursing services in accordance with the Brown University Health and The Miriam Hospital?s mission vision values with consideration of the life span including all developmental stages as well as cultural patterns.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Supervises the scheduling and preparation of patients for the assigned divisions. Advises and assists staff with positioning protocols and techniques. Consults with physician section chiefs for establishing positioning criteria and protocols. Coordinates orientation and training programs.</p> <p>Maintains adequate inventory of supplies for assigned area(s) submitting requests for non-routine expenditures to the director for approval.</p> <p>Assists department director in preparation of yearly budget. Prepares monthly variance reports. Monitors and records department expenditures related to inventory. Works with Brown University Health affiliates section coordinators and radiologist section chiefs to acquire system-wide cost agreements maximizing discounts for areas of responsibility.</p> <p>Ensures staff properly orders tracks verifies and bills patients? exams in accordance with departmental guidelines. Works closely with department radiologist staff to ensure patient exams are timely appropriate and maximize manpower utilization.</p> <p>Works with Coding supervisor to maximize revenue by monitoring and maintaining charges for assigned area(s). Conducts daily charge reconciliation to optimize and expedite charge accuracy. Adjusts billing errors when needed.</p> <p>Monitors and authorizes equipment service and maintenance. Reviews evaluates and recommends new equipment and supplies.</p> <p>With assistance of senior technologist interviews hires schedules conducts performance reviews and counseling for staff as appropriate; seeks assistance from director in areas where precedents are not clearly defined.</p> <p>The Radiology Manager directs counsels and assists TMH Educational Coordinator and works closely with Brown University Health Radiology Education Coordinator in order to provide the maximum clinical experience for affiliated student radiographers.</p> <p>Collaborates with radiologist section chiefs cardiology groups and senior staff for purpose of optimizing operations in the assigned areas to ensure proper procedure performance and open communication.</p> <p>Reviews evaluates and recommends changes to policies and procedures. Keeps policies current.</p> <p>Acts as a liaison between hospital department staff patients and families in order to provide optimum service.</p> <p>Serves on various hospital committees as assigned.</p> <p>The Clerical Services Manager manages all clerical functions associated with Diagnostic Imaging (DI) departments relative to scheduling ordering release of images clerical policies and staffing when applicable.</p> <p>Compiles and interprets statistical data on area operations. Participates in the DI Quality Assurance Program.</p> <p>The Nuclear Medicine Manager oversees the Findlay College student program for Nuclear Medicine students. Acts as the student coordinator for the hospital.</p> <p>Prepares and submits applications for department accreditation with organizations such as The Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Nuclear Medicine Laboratories (ICANL) and / or The American College of Radiology (ACR). Assists with inspections.</p> <p>Maintains quality assurance safety environment and infection control in accordance with established hospital and department policies procedures and objectives.</p> <p>Ensures that direct reports are current with licensure/certification and in-service requirements.</p> <p>Ensures that area personnel maintain accurate patient records.</p> <p>Holds monthly department meetings records and retains minutes.</p> <p>Understands and practices As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles of radiation protection including the use and exchange of personal dosimeters.</p> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Other information:</p> <p>BASIC KNOWLEDGE:</p> <p>Completion of two years? formal training in a school of Radiologic Technology or equivalent.</p> <p>Maintains current license to practice in the state of Rhode Island.</p> <p>Must hold current ARRT certification.</p> <p>Bachelor?s Degree in Health Science Business Administration or Management preferred.</p> <p>Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>Four years of progressively responsible radiology department experience preferably in at least one assigned specialty area.</p> <p>Two years? supervisory experience preferred.</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Responsibility for up to 60 full-time employees.</p> <p>Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals physicians? offices and ancillary healthcare enterprises.</p> <p>Works with medical equipment and has direct patient contact.</p> <p>Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use safety equipment and protective clothing.</p> <p>Walks and stands intermittently throughout the day.</p> <p>Subject to electrical and energy hazards.</p> <p>May lift and position patients and lift supplies up to 50 pounds.</p> <p>Brown University Health is an Equal Opportunity employer.
