<p>Job Description:</p> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>The Student Success Coach will provide support for issues pertaining to retention, persistence and graduation. This position will report to the Dean of Student Success and Persistence and support university-wide initiatives related to retention, persistence and graduation. The position will work collaboratively with Academic Success professionals in the Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA), specifically as it pertains to academic coaching and Starfish predictive analytics and early alert outreach.</p> <p>SUPERVISION RECEIVED:</p> <p>Dean of Student Success and Persistence</p> <p>SUPERVISION EXERCISED:</p> <p>None</p> <p>EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide personalized support for academic skill development for students, through coaching, through group settings or through virtual modalities </li><li>Incorporate Starfish Operational analytics into outreach efforts using differentiated care approaches </li><li>Create Student Success Plans and develop assessment strategies to correlate with individual student success plans </li><li>Develop and implement intervention strategies to support students who may be of concern as indicated through the early alert system. </li><li>Work with campus offices, academic departments and other areas on campus to develop solutions to barriers students are encountering </li><li>Maintain on-gong contact with an assigned caseload of students through Starfish to ensure their retention and persistence to degree completion. </li><li>Conduct outreach to targeted groups of incoming or returning students during the summer months </li><li>Understand enrollment processes, academic requirements and other aspects of campus-life that affect student persistence. </li><li>Assist with the development, scheduling and implementation of overall retention and persistence efforts for the Student Success Division, including creating materials, scheduling workshops and assisting with trainings. </li><li>Accountable for ensuring that equity, equal opportunity, and inclusion are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility. </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <p>This is a full-time position in the Center for Academic Success and Achievement. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required. With approval, some work may be done remotely but this is predominantly an in-person position.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree, preferable in counseling, social work, psychology, education or a related field </li><li>Experience serving in a staff or student leadership role within higher education </li><li>Experiences as or working with college students around transition and success initiatives </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in higher education or a related field </li><li>Experience working with diverse populations </li><li>Evidence of strong written and communication skills </li><li>Experience developing and sustaining collaborative relationships with colleagues, preferable in support of student success </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge around the strengths of and challenges faced by first-generation college students </li><li>Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>This is a full-time, exempt benefits-eligible position in the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit with a union title of Staff Assistant.
