<p>Job Title: Toolmaker 1</p> <p>Exempt Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Location: Newington, CT</p> <p>Company Description:</p> <p>Hanwha Aerospace USA has long been recognized as a leader in the development and supply of flight critical Aerospace/Defense components and assemblies. Operating out of four state-of-the-art facilities located in Connecticut, Hanwha Aerospace USA offers growth and career development opportunities to enrich your talents.</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>We are looking for a toolmaker who has experience in analyzing specifications, lay out material stock, set up and operates machine tools, knowledge of fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair jigs and fixtures, gauges, composite molds, specialty machines and specialty tools, applying knowledge of tool shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout, machining, and assembly procedures.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Study specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts. </li><li>Computes dimensions, plans layout and determines assembly method and sequence of operations. </li><li>Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining. </li><li>Sets up and operates machine tools, such as lathes, milling machine, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications. </li><li>Lifts machined parts manually or using hoist, and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable, using devices, such as vises, V-blocks, and angle plates. </li><li>Smooths flat and contoured surfaces, using files, abrasive stones, and power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms, using hand tools. </li><li>Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, gauge blocks, thickness gauges, and micrometers. Works to .0001" tolerances. </li><li>Documents the in-process inspection procedures in accordance with Quality Assurance Procedure 4.10-2. </li><li>Inspects and measures parts to document quality requirements directly to the customer. </li><li>May connect wiring and hydraulic lines to install electrical and hydraulic components </li><li>May examine standard or previously used tools, jigs and fixtures and recommend design modifications regarding construction and function of the part. </li><li>May develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draw or sketch design or product. </li><li>Make components for tools, fixtures, and jigs from a blueprint. Able to choose cutting tools, work holding and masoning tools. </li><li>Perform other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications & Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by the U.S. Government and able to work without restrictions with ITAR related data </li><li>High School Degree or G.E.D required. </li><li>1+ years of experience </li></ul> <p>Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization. </li><li>Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and standard business practices. </li><li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints. </li><li>Ability to read machine dial gauges and precision measuring instruments. </li><li>Ability to read, write, and understand English at a functional level. </li><li>Ability to travel 5-10% when required. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands / Work Capacity Evaluation</p> <p>The essential functions of this position may vary based on specific assignments, work locations, and operational needs.
