<p>South Pasadena Unified School District</p> <p>EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Under general supervision, to perform a variety of instructional duties and activities designed to free the instructor from routine work related to the educational program; to assist in the conduct of intensified learning experiences; to perform routine clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel; and to do other related work as required. EDUCATION: At least two (2) years of education at the junior college level. EXPERIENCE: One year of paid or volunteer experience working with multi-age groups of children. Training or course work in child growth and development, instructional technology, or a closely related field is highly desirable. KNOWLEDGE OF: Basic concepts of child growth and development, and developmental behavior characteristics; student behavior management strategies and techniques; appropriate English usage, punctuation, spelling, grammar; basic mathematical concepts; basic operating knowledge of standard office equipment, including computers and technology; routine record management, storage and retrieval systems and procedures. ABILITIES/SKILLS: Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude towards students of varied age groups; motivate students; communicate effectively in oral and written form in English; perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of educational and office-related machines and equipment; learn to utilize a variety of appropriate instructional materials and procedures in the enhancement of a positive educational environment; be empathetic when working with students having special needs when mainstreamed or placed in the classroom; understand and carry out oral and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults. OTHER: Passing grade on the State required Instructional Aide Proficiency Test.
