<p>General Function</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Infrastructure Management, the Director of System Services provides dynamic, responsive, collaborative, and forward-thinking vision, leadership and management of technology systems and services to support Central Piedmont's mission and goals. This includes the planning, development, implementation, management and maintenance of all applications, infrastructure, security, networks, technology training, as well as comprehensive support for the teaching and learning activities of the staff and students. Evaluates assigned personnel and performs related work as required.</p> <p>This position will create a safe and inclusive working environment with respect for a diversity of backgrounds and ableness.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Supervises the installation and maintenance of Central Piedmont's server services. </li><li>Plans, coordinates and provides input towards the ongoing development of Central Piedmont's server systems and services. </li><li>Assigns projects to System Administrators and monitors their work for quality and alignment with Central Piedmont's mission. </li><li>Develops, documents, and implements procedures related to infrastructure systems hardware and software acquisition, use, support, security, and backup. </li><li>Drafts policy recommendations for Executive Management review and approval. </li><li>Oversees operations and processes relating to mission critical infrastructure systems. </li><li>Communicates with other departments to report and resolve software, hardware, and operational issues. </li><li>Coordinates the installation and testing of software upgrades, the collection and analysis of server resource utilization, and the development and implementation of disaster/recovery procedures. </li><li>Provides extensive vendor management. Assists in negotiation and coordinating activities of server infrastructure vendors. </li><li>Plans and schedules human and technology resources. </li><li>Supervises staff for the unit, including hiring, termination, training, and evaluation decisions. </li><li>Assists in development of long-term strategies for growth and maintenance of department resources. </li><li>Makes budgetary recommendations to upper management, and monitors expenditures against approved budget. </li><li>Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment and/or systems. Researches and evaluates new technologies. </li><li>Performs as back-up for Executive Director as needed. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's degree is required from a regionally accredited institution in Information Technology or related field; 4 to 6 years of experience in Information Technology or an associate degree from an accredited institution in Information Technology and 8 to 10 years' experience. </li><li>Certifications relevant to the items in Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics are preferred. </li><li>ITIL Foundation certification is required (or should be obtained within 9 months of appointment). </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Supervisory experience </li><li>Industry certifications that demonstrate proficiency with Enterprise I.T. Infrastructure such as Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, etc. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those commonly associated with this position. </li><li>Expert ability in operating, installing, maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting a wide variety of virtual and physical computers, servers, and peripherals. </li><li>Ability to lead and motivate others. </li><li>Ability to maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. </li><li>Ability to efficiently manage time. </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to work without close supervision. </li><li>Strong customer-oriented focus in providing technology services. </li><li>Strong technology research skills. </li><li>Strong leadership and planning ability. </li><li>Strong organizational skills. </li><li>Skilled in commonly used software such as the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, </li><li>Access, Publisher, Outlook, Visio, and Project) </li><li>The ability to read and write instructions, see, hear, operate a computer, comprehend, and then carry out directives when instructed. </li><li>Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the position. </li><li>The ability to work on-site. </li><li>Predictable, reliable, and prompt attendance. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>This position is full-time.</p> <p>Occasional after-hour and weekend support may be necessary.</p>
