<p>Posting Number S375P Working Title Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach (Part-Time) FLSA Exempt Pay Grade Advertised Salary Position Status Part Time Appointment Length 12 Months Department Athletics Job Summary/Basic Function</p> <p>The Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and success of the intercollegiate men's and women's cross country programs. This part-time position carries the full responsibilities of a head coaching role, including program development, recruiting, academic oversight, compliance, fundraising, and community engagement. The Head Coach is expected to operate both programs in alignment with institutional, conference, and NCAA regulations while fostering a culture of competitive excellence, integrity, and holistic student-athlete development.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) </li><li>Collegiate coaching experience or competitive collegiate cross country and/or track & field experience </li><li>Strong recruiting, organizational, and communication skills </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Previous head coaching experience </li><li>Demonstrated success in recruiting and program building </li><li>Experience with fundraising and alumni engagement </li><li>Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations </li></ul> <p>Posting Date 03/02/2026 Close Date Special Instructions Summary</p> <ul> <li>Part-time position with significant time commitment </li><li>Travel required for competition and recruiting </li><li>Evening and weekend hours required </li></ul> <p>Appointment to this position will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check.</p> <p>Job Duties</p> <p>Description of Job Duties</p> <p>Program Leadership & Administration</p> <ul> <li>Provide vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the men's and women's cross country programs </li><li>Organize and conduct all practices, competitions, and team activities </li><li>Develop training plans that promote peak performance and injury prevention </li><li>Coordinate competition schedules in collaboration with the Athletics Department </li><li>Monitor and responsibly manage program budgets </li><li>Maintain oversight of equipment, uniforms, and team gear </li></ul> <p>Recruiting</p> <ul> <li>Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes for both programs </li><li>Maintain consistent communication with prospects, families, high school coaches </li><li>Coordinate official and unofficial campus visits </li></ul> <p>Student-Athlete Development</p> <ul> <li>Promote academic achievement and monitor academic progress </li><li>Foster leadership, sportsmanship, and personal growth </li><li>Support retention, persistence, and degree completion </li></ul> <p>Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Maintain thorough knowledge of NCAA, conference, and institutional rules </li><li>Ensure compliance in all areas including recruiting, eligibility, and financial aid </li><li>Complete required compliance documentation and reporting in a timely manner </li></ul> <p>Fundraising & External Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Assist with fundraising initiatives to enhance program resources </li><li>Cultivate relationships with alumni, donors, and community supporters </li><li>Participate in departmental and institutional advancement activities </li><li>Represent the programs positively within the campus and local community </li></ul> <p>Administrative & Departmental Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Attend departmental meetings and required trainings </li><li>Collaborate with athletic training, strength and conditioning, academic support, and compliance staff </li><li>Support departmental initiatives and assist with game-day or event operations as assigned </li></ul>
