This role is ideal for nurses who are passionate about patient-centered care and interested in developing their skills in surgical specialty care. Both experienced surgical nurses and those looking to expand their clinical knowledge are encouraged to apply.</p> <p>In this role, you will assess patient needs, coordinate surgical care, and support patients and families throughout the pre-operative and post-operative process. You will work closely with surgeons and the clinical team to ensure safe, timely, and effective patient care.</p> <p>Patient Assessment & Triage</p> <ul> <li>Assess incoming patient calls to determine urgency of symptoms or concerns. </li><li>Provide telephone triage for post-operative issues such as pain, wound concerns, or possible complications. </li><li>Direct patients to appropriate care, including clinic follow-up, urgent evaluation, or emergency services when needed. </li></ul> <p>Care Coordination</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate care for patients before and after surgical procedures. </li><li>Collaborate with surgeons, providers, and clinical staff to ensure timely care. </li><li>Assist with scheduling procedures, diagnostic tests, and referrals. </li></ul> <p>Patient & Family Education</p> <ul> <li>Educate patients and caregivers on surgical procedures, pre-operative preparation, and post-operative recovery. </li><li>Provide guidance on wound care, medications, activity restrictions, and warning signs of complications. </li></ul> <p>Documentation & Follow-Up</p> <ul> <li>Document patient interactions, assessments, and care plans in the electronic health record (EHR). </li><li>Monitor recovery and coordinate follow-up appointments to ensure continuity of care. </li><li>Communicate patient updates and concerns with the surgical team. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa </li><li>Experience: All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in surgery or specialty care is a plus, but not required. </li><li>Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. </li></ul>
