<p>POSITION: School Counselor</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months</p> <p>SALARY: See MPSD Teacher Pay Scale</p> <p>DATES TO APPLY: June 24, 2025 - June 18, 2025</p> <p>Qualified applicants who have submitted a complete application packet will be contacted and notified of an interview schedule by the school principal beginning June 24, 2025.</p> <p>JOB PURPOSE: To assist students in making educational, occupational, and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>The applicant shall possess the certification required by the applicable rules and regulations of the Louisiana Department of Education and/or the Louisiana Board of Elementary & Secondary Education when the application begins to hold the position. (See Bulletin 746)</p> <p>EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree in guidance and counseling from an accredited college or university approved by the CACREP. </li><li>Valid Louisiana Ancillary Teaching Certificate in School Counseling </li><li>Experience working in schools and/or teaching experience is a plus </li><li>If the candidate completed a counseling program in another concentration other than in "school counseling", six credit hours of school counseling courses from a CACREP-accredited program </li></ul> <p>must be completed.</p> <ul> <li>Follow this link for additional certification requirements https://www.teachlouisiana.net/Checklist/New_An_Counselor_K_12_12_4_12.pdf </li></ul> <p>EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge in developing and implementing a comprehensive developmental guidance program </li><li>Ability to assist students with developing and applying skills for maximum educational, career, personal and social growth during the school year and beyond </li><li>Provide appropriate assessments and interventions needed to address students' developmental needs and personal concerns that may affect their continued educational, career, personal, or social development. </li><li>Demonstrate coordination through collaborative work by bringing together people and resources in the home, school, district, and community to support students' optimal academic, career, personal, and social development. </li><li>Demonstrate competency in digital-age work, student learning, and scheduling </li><li>Evidence of prior successful school counseling experience is a plus </li></ul> <p>CONTACT INFORMATION:</p> <p>For more information, contact the MPSB Personnel Department at (318) 281-5784; email personnel@mpsb.us, or</p> <p>Vashon Hobbs, Morehouse Elementary School Principal at (318) 281-0776; email vhobbs@mpsb.us</p> <p>Wendy Coleman, Delta Elementary School Principal at (318) 647-3443; email wcoleman@mpsb.us</p>
