<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Business Office Operations Specialist (ANTICIPATED) Category: Secretarial/Clerical/Business Office Operations Specialist Location: Regional School Services Center</p> <p>Date of Availability: 06/23/2025 Date Closing: 05/08/2025</p> <ul> <li>Job Description </li></ul> <p>Employment Terms: Full-time, Hourly Position (Part of the Local 1303-266 Collective Bargaining Agreement). Adherence to district policies and procedures is required.</p> <p>Benefits: Eligible for benefits as outlined in the CBA.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Business Office Operations Specialist plays a key role in supporting the financial and administrative operations of the district. This position is responsible for a wide range of business functions, including purchasing, budget reconciliation, grants management, and financial oversight of district accounts and funds. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to supporting our schools with exceptional business operations service.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities - General Business Operations</p> <ul> <li>Review purchase requisitions, process purchase orders, and maintain vendor files. </li><li>Manage payments including invoices, expenses, conference, and mileage reimbursements. </li><li>Handle all transactions related to the Cafeteria Fund and Building Fund. </li><li>Reconcile monthly bank statements (payroll, revolving, and student activity funds). </li><li>Maintain fixed asset records and oversee financial operations at the high school level. </li><li>Monitor daily cash flow and review the General Ledger for all funds. </li><li>Manage Accounts Receivable for Out-of-District students. </li><li>Maintain and update user accounts in the accounting system; provide user support and training. </li><li>Prepare annual 1099s and assist with audit documentation. </li></ul> <p>Budget Preparation and Management</p> <ul> <li>Support the Business Manager in budget preparation and ongoing management. </li><li>Assist with spreadsheet development and trend analysis. </li><li>Process budget transfers and generate expenditure reports. </li></ul> <p>Grants Management - Oversee all financial activity related to district grants, including monthly fund requests and year-end closeout.</p> <p>Labor Contract Support -Provide data and analysis support for contract negotiations and financial planning.Administrative Support</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the primary contact for Business Office inquiries (excluding Payroll & HR). </li><li>Maintain records, prepare reports, and assist with additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills and Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), Google Docs/Sheets. </li><li>Strong understanding of general accounting and financial practices. </li><li>Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a team environment. </li><li>Professional demeanor and adherence to office protocols. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in Accounting (required). </li><li>Minimum of five years of bookkeeping experience. </li><li>Experience with Infinite Vision Software preferred, but not required. </li></ul> <p>Application/Interview Procedure:</p> <ul> <li>Apply online at www.region1schools.org; JobID: 1569. </li></ul> <p>For More Information: Contact Business Manager Sam Herrick at (860) 824-0855 x.1303 or sherrick@region1schools.org.</p> <p>Regional School District No. 1 provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
