<ol> <li> <p>Must be courteous to patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and other employees of the organization.</p> </li><li> <p>Assumes responsibility for assigned areas of laboratory activity.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains proficiency and performs diagnostic test in blood bank, hematology, serology, chemistry, coagulation, clinical, microscopy and bacteriology.</p> </li><li> <p>Carries out and initiates follow up of organic and inorganic diagnostic test.</p> </li><li> <p>Draws venous or capillary blood from inpatients and outpatients as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Packages specimens together with pertinent information.</p> </li><li> <p>Arranges for delivery to reference laboratory.</p> </li><li> <p>Prioritizes requests according to need and condition.</p> </li><li> <p>Records and checks results of tests.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures prompt transmittal of accurate reports and test results to physicians and nursing units.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures proper reporting of charges and billing information for all services.</p> </li><li> <p>Completes periodic proficiency survey tests for unknown samples submitted for analysis and completes required reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and sets up equipment for tests.</p> </li><li> <p>Assures proper calibration of equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs and records daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks of all laboratory equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Keeps abreast of new developments in the field of clinical laboratory procedures, techniques and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Must wear facility provided identification badge at all times.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.</p> </li></ol> <p>Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers in a manner that reflects Falmouth Hospital's commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence and service.</p> <p>MT: 00038</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or higher in Medical/Clinical Laboratory science, Medical Technology, Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry from an accredited institution and completion of an approved Medical Technology internship program. </li><li>ASCP or equivalent certification required within six (6) months of hire.
