<p>Position Title: Registered Nurse (RN)</p> <p>Classification: Exempt</p> <p>Reports To: Health/Wellness Director</p> <p>Location: Dayton, Ohio</p> <p>Pay: $70,000 - $75,000</p> <p>Hours: M-F 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Some weekend availability is required; may also require one late night a week.)</p> <p>Position Description</p> <p>Summary</p> <p>Responsible for rendering medical care to the ill or injured according to health standing orders and physician orders. Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies the Health/Wellness Director or Physician of patients' conditions and reactions to drugs, treatment, and significant incidents.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ol> <li>Takes temperatures, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to determine the patient's </li></ol> <p>progress.</p> <ol start="2"> <li> <p>May train staff in areas of CPR, First Aid, and crisis intervention.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in medical examination of new students in accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) guidelines.</p> </li><li> <p>May screen patients and direct them to the Center Physician, Dentist, Health Services</p> </li></ol> <p>Coordinator, Counselor, or public health department as appropriate.</p> <ol start="5"> <li> <p>Assists the Physician with patient examinations.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares patients for tests and examinations.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and administers prescribed medications.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains medical equipment and inventory of supplies and medications.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains accurate medical records, updates records in a timely manner, and retrieves all patient records of outside medical visits for continued care on center.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides medical counseling/education to students.</p> </li><li> <p>Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center.</p> </li><li> <p>Acts as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property.</p> </li><li> <p>Reports violations of ethical behavior.</p> </li><li> <p>Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.</p> </li><li> <p>Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns.</p> </li><li> <p>Must maintain a 75% or better on employee scorecard.</p> </li></ol> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.</p> <p>Requirements</p> <p>Required Education & Experience</p> <ul> <li>Active, unrestricted license to practice in the center's state </li><li>One year of health care experience, preferably in a health clinic; proven experience as an RN </li><li>Experience working with youth preferred </li><li>Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures </li><li>Excellent knowledge of emergency care </li><li>In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination,etc.) and a willingness to follow them at all times </li></ul> <p>Certifications/Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Must have passed the NCLEX-RN exam administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) </li><li>Must meet all the other licensing requirements mandated by the state's board of nursing </li><li>Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions </li><li>Strong organizational skills </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Computer proficiency required </li></ul> <p>Minimum Eligibility Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>If the position requires driving, a valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required </li><li>1-9 documentation required to verify authorization to work in the United States </li><li>Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check </li></ul> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Other Duties</p> <p>This job description is not a comprehensive listing of all duties or responsibilities that are required for this position and may be updated.
