<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Trauma Clinical Data Analyst assists with coordinating routine activities associated with the trauma registry, including data gathering, data abstraction/entry/coding, data analysis, data validation and maintenance, reporting, and additional clerical duties such as filing, organizing, and assisting with meetings. The Trauma Clinical Data Analyst supports relationships with, and submission of data to the region, and State, National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB), and the Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) for maintenance of state designation, national verification, as well as national benchmarking.</p> <p>Department Summary</p> <p>The Trauma Clinical Data Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the hospital's trauma program by ensuring the accurate collection, coding, analysis, and reporting of trauma-related data. We take pride in maintaining a high-quality trauma registry that supports clinical excellence, enhances patient outcomes, and meets state and national reporting standards.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology. </li><li>ICD - 10 Coding . </li><li>Preferred AIS Coding. </li><li>3 - 5 years of experience, preferred. </li></ul> <p>Department Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Participate in and pass the AAAM's Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) course within 1 year of hire. </li><li>Participate in an ICD-10 course, or an ICD-10 refresher course every five years. </li><li>Participate in a trauma registry course that includes all of the following content within 1 year of hire: includes, abstraction, data management, reports/report analysis, data validation and HIPAA. </li><li>Must complete at least 24 hours of trauma-related CE during the verification cycle. </li><li>Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS) preferred or completed within 5 years of hire. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li>Proficient with a variety of other computer software products, for example Microsoft Office (Excel PowerPoint). </li><li>Medical coding (ICD 10). </li><li>Strong attention to detail. </li><li>Excellent communication skills with healthcare professionals. </li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. </li><li>Ability to work independently on assigned projects and to recommend improvement to the process of collecting, maintaining, and reporting patient information. </li></ul> <p>Department Skills</p> <p>Responsibilities & Expectations</p> <ul> <li>Abstracts data from the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and enters data into the trauma registry. </li><li>Data Validation. </li><li>Assists with preparation for monthly trauma meetings. </li><li>Attends monthly trauma meetings (NORTN, AOTR). </li><li>Submits all data to the region, state and TQIP on a quarterly basis. </li><li>Maintains trauma databases and ensures timely submission to TQIP and National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB). </li><li>Assist with preparation for American College of Surgeon (ACS) trauma verification visits. </li></ul> <p>Department Responsibilities & Expectations</p> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Hours: Monday - Friday, day shift, full-time required. </li><li>Works closely with the Trauma Program Manager, Trauma Data Specialist and other Trauma Staff. </li><li>Works in well lighted/ventilated area. </li><li>Subject to frequent interruptions in completion of assignments. </li><li>Subject to frequent changes in priorities of duties during shift. </li></ul> <p>Hazardous Exposure Category</p> <p>Category III - Includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood; body fluids or tissues (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone anywhere might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.) Persons who perform these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.</p>
