The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 - 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.</p> <p>Why We Do This Work:</p> <p>The Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 has set an ambitious agenda for change, guided by the belief that all children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels and academic gaps can and will be eliminated with the support of teachers who deliver engaging, relevant, and academically rigorous instruction that excites students and instills a love of learning in them.</p> <p>Organizational Relationship:</p> <p>Under the primary direction of the principal for all matters pertaining to the operation of the school plan, in-building administrative and personnel procedures, and general or district-wide policies. Under the secondary direction of the Career and Technical Education Coordinator for all matters pertaining to curriculum, instructional methods, assessments, and materials;</p> <p>What we need: A Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Engineering Technology Instructor.</p> <p>Background and Goals: In cooperation with our partners at Johnson Controls, we offer comprehensive technical training courses in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR). The program provides high school students with the opportunity to learn a skill and obtain certification, better enabling them to get a job or give them a head start as they continue their education.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct students how to test, install, and monitor HVAC systems. </li><li>Instruct students how to assist and perform maintenance on HVAC systems. </li><li>Instruct students how to troubleshoot electrical and control systems. </li><li>Assess the performance of students in the aforementioned areas. </li><li>Provide a personalized instructional program that is compatible with the abilities, needs and learning characteristics of each student; </li><li>Implement prescribed curriculum; </li><li>Create a child-centered learning environment that is characterized by the consistent application of sound mental health and educational psychology practices; </li><li>Follow prescribed curriculum, instructional methods and materials; </li><li>Employ creative methods of instruction and utilize a variety of materials within the structure of the designated curriculum; </li><li>Become acquainted with the characteristics, needs, abilities and problems of each child through personal interaction and by seeking information from psycho-educational reports, hearing and vision reports, staffing notes, end-of-the-year student status reports, etc.; </li><li>Inform the Academic Chair whenever a student's attendance is unsatisfactory; </li><li>Supply the Academic Chair with any abnormal attendance reports on any student; </li><li>Report student address and telephone number changes to the Academic Chair; </li><li>Provide the Academic Chair with an up-to-date copy of the schedule of classroom activities that the teacher is following; </li><li>Maintain up-to-date lesson plans; </li><li>Use the designated methods of reporting student progress to parents; </li><li>Attend specified in-service meetings and conferences with the building principal; </li><li>Develop a close relationship with each student's parents or guardians; </li><li>Use teacher aides or helpers in accord with the designated job descriptions; </li><li>Perform such other professional duties as may be assigned by the building principal. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Provisional Career and Technical Educator License (CTEP) required; and either 60+ credit hours in HVAC with 2,000 hours of fieldwork or either 8,000 hours of HVAC fieldwork;</p> </li><li> <p>Bilingual preferred, but not required;</p> </li><li> <p>Good communication, organizational, computer, and interpersonal skills required;</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google Suite (Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Gmail, Google Calendar, etc.);</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient in writing, speaking, listening, and interpersonal skills;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to multitask effectively and prioritize strategically;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to tend to details and review and edit information as necessary for accuracy;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to keep detailed records and to prioritize and work independently with minimal supervision and follow oral and written instructions;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to successfully work in a collaborative environment;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to interact with all stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and manage documents in a timely and effective manner;</p> </li><li> <p>Understands theories, strategies, and methodologies of teaching and learning;</p> </li><li> <p>Strong teaching, leadership, and facilitation skills;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collect and evaluate data related to professional development;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively meet deadlines;</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to physically monitor HVAC program activities through standing, bending, squatting, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting at the trunk, and climbing;</p> </li></ol> <p>Note: The above statements are intended to describe the essential functions and related requirements of persons assigned to this job.
