<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Support Staff/Regular Education Paraprofessional</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>12/8/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Salisbury Central School</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>01/05/2026</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>When filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>The Salisbury Central School seeks a Regular Education ParaEducator/Teaching Assistant to support teachers and students in our Early Childhood classrooms for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Works with individuals, small groups, or classes of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. </li><li>Guides independent work, enrichment work, or remedial work that the teacher or Interventionist supervises. </li><li>Works at the request of supervisor and/or teacher with individual students needing support. </li><li>Assists students in Unified Arts classes when appropriate. </li><li>Operates and cares for equipment used in the classroom and office. </li><li>Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and strict confidentiality regarding student and staff information. </li><li>Participates in in-service training programs as needed or assigned. </li><li>Responsibilities may include lunch and recess duties. </li><li>Supports and promotes a positive and professional educational and work environment with students, colleagues, and parents. </li><li>Strives to implement the District's mission, goals, and objectives outlined in the District's Strategic Plan. </li><li>Maintain a safe and caring environment. </li></ul> <p>Competencies and Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Earned a high school diploma or its equivalent. </li><li>Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education or has earned an associate's degree (or higher), OR achieved at least a score of 457 on the ETS ParaProAssessment. </li><li>Sensitive to and aware of student needs </li><li>Courteous verbal communication </li><li>Team approach </li><li>Computer skills: using software to monitor student performance; communicating with teachers via email </li><li>Positive human relations and the ability to build rapport with children are essential. </li><li>Knowledgeable and understanding of child development </li><li>Able to operate office machines such as copiers and computers or the willingness to learn </li><li>Required by the State of CT to be fingerprinted </li></ul> <p>Physical Abilities and Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>Vision: Can read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods. </li><li>Hearing: Ability to tolerate exposure to noisy conditions. </li><li>Speech: Ability to be understood in face-to-face communications, to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone or computer. </li><li>Upper Body Mobility: Ability to use hands to grasp and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist, and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head. </li><li>Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects that weigh as much as 25 pounds or more frequently. Paraprofessionals may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict. </li><li>Physical Demands: The ability to sit for long periods (at a desk and on the floor), kneel, bend at the waist, run, and walk. </li><li>Physical Stamina: The capacity to perform a range of support responsibilities, including but not limited to transferring and lifting, feeding, and cleaning, for all areas of health, function, and hygiene with students who have significant needs in those areas. </li><li>Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions: This position is 9:00 AM - 3:15 PM and will follow the school calendar through June 2026.
