Orange County Government is committed to providing equal opportunity in employment and services to all individuals.</p> <p>The Orange County Innovation Lab Office is seeking well-qualified applicants for the role of Senior Professional On-Call to staff the Orange County Innovation Center (Innovation Center). Opening in April 2026, the newly constructed Innovation Center focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) educational opportunities and workforce development for the benefit of all Orange County residents and businesses.</p> <p>The Innovation Center¿s resources and partnerships will focus on creating and enhancing creativity, collaboration, experimentation, community engagement, digital literacy and other workforce skills. The Innovation Center includes a new fabrication space that seats 120 for 3D printing, laser cutting, prototyping, production, and training.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>General Functions: The Senior Professional On-Call will lead fabrication space program development, implementation, training, education, and outreach. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general direction of the Innovation Manager.</p> <p>This Senior Professional On-Call is a part-time temporary position for up to 1,200 hours per fiscal year. The position is an in-person role at the Innovation Center, when open in April 2026, and at the Orange County Administration Building prior to that time. The position has a flexible schedule that may include nights and weekends, based on project and event schedules.</p> <p>Representative Duties/Assignments:</p> <p>Develop and provide fabrication classes, workshops, equipment orientations and safety trainings and STEAM project-based learning for all ages in fabrication space facilities.</p> <p>Maintain accurate records and documentation for equipment installation, operations, and maintenance, including for corresponding safety and risk management activities.</p> <p>Develop, organize, and update project files and logs for classes, trainings, and orientations.</p> <p>Maintain a safe and organized fabrication space environment for use by the public.</p> <p>Research equipment capital, operations, and maintenance options to make recommendations to the Innovation Manager.</p> <p>Participate in Innovation Center outreach events and programming with Innovation Center staff and partners.</p> <p>Coordinate projects and activities with the Innovation Manager throughout the work shift.</p> <p>Provide staff/volunteer training and coaching related to the fabrication space, as needed.</p> <p>Perform other related work duties as assigned.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field. Three (3) years of experience with selecting, operating, and maintaining equipment in fabrication space or makerspace facilities, including implementation of corresponding safety and risk management protocols.</p> <p>Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license and provide own transportation if necessary.</p> <p>Must be available to work all shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.</p> <p>Preferences:</p> <p>Master's degree in engineering or a related field.</p> <p>Familiarity with slicing software for conversion of 3D models into instructions/code for 3D printers and digital design-to-fabrication workflows.</p> <p>Excellent problem-solving and communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.</p> <p>Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, Word and Excel and relevant technical / creative software (such as SolidWorks, Fusion360, Unity, Unreal, Autodesk, Adobe or the like).</p> <p>Experience with providing classes, training, and project-based learning in fabrication space or ¿makerspace¿ facilities.</p> <p>Experience with interdisciplinary maker projects across metal, wood, electronics, textiles, and software.</p> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>Open Date: 12/11/2025</p> <p>Close Date: 12/28/2025</p> <p>This posting is subject to close without prior notice.</p> <p>Salary Information</p> <p>Pay Grade: 420 - From $75.00 to $100.00</p> <p>FLSA Status:</p> <p>Placement based on Education and Experience</p> <p>Veterans Preference</p> <p>If you are claiming Veterans' Preference, you are responsible for providing the required eligibility documentation by the closing date of the posting.
