Reporting to the Physical Therapy Manager, the PT collaborates closely with physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, social workers, nutritionists, and other healthcare professionals. The PT develops individualized treatment plans, provides therapeutic exercises, and educates patients and their families on recovery and prevention strategies.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Patient Assessment and Diagnosis</p> <ul> <li> <p>Evaluates patients' physical conditions and medical histories.</p> </li><li> <p>Diagnoses movement dysfunctions through observation and physical tests.</p> </li><li> <p>Develops individualized treatment plans based on assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct comprehensive evaluations of both operative and non-operative patients to determine the most appropriate course of therapy, distinguishing between those suitable for home-based programs and those requiring in-clinic supervision.</p> </li></ul> <p>Treatment Implementation</p> <ul> <li> <p>Administers therapeutic exercises and manual therapy techniques.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors patients' progress and adjusts treatment plans accordingly.</p> </li><li> <p>Designs and implements individualized physical therapy treatment plans aimed at restoring, maintaining, or enhancing physical function, reducing pain, and preventing further physical deterioration.</p> </li><li> <p>Instruct patients on prescribed home exercise programs during clinical visits and maintain ongoing communication to monitor adherence and progress. Modify treatment strategies as necessary to ensure optimal patient outcomes.</p> </li><li> <p>Educates patients on exercises and lifestyle changes to aid recovery.</p> </li></ul> <p>Documentation and Record Keeping</p> <ul> <li> <p>Maintains accurate patient records, documenting progress and treatment plans.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares reports for physicians and insurance purposes.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishes and documents treatment goals, anticipated outcomes, and reevaluation timelines in compliance with the Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act.</p> </li></ul> <p>Patient and Family Education</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provides guidance on home exercises and preventive measures.</p> </li><li> <p>Educates patients and families about the recovery process and expected outcomes.</p> </li><li> <p>Advises on the use of assistive devices and equipment</p> </li></ul> <p>Collaboration and Communication</p> <ul> <li> <p>Works closely with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborates with the Musculoskeletal Institute to promote interdisciplinary care and ensure the integration of shared clinical knowledge in the management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions.</p> </li></ul> <p>Marginal or Periodic Functions</p> <p>Conducts Community Outreach Programs</p> <ul> <li>Participates in health fairs and community events to promote physical therapy services. </li></ul> <p>Supervises Physical Therapy Assistants</p> <ul> <li>Provides oversight and guidance to PTAs during patient treatments. </li></ul> <p>Engages in Professional Development</p> <ul> <li> <p>Attends workshops and conferences to stay updated on the latest PT practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Engages in ongoing professional development and continuing education to maintain current knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in physical therapy.</p> </li><li> <p>Other related duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills/Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Listens actively to patient concerns, provides empathetic care, and follows up on patient progress.</p> </li><li> <p>Makes sound decisions based on thorough assessments and evidence-based practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyzes patient data accurately, selects appropriate treatment methods, and adjusts plans as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Works well with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.</p> </li><li> <p>Continuously updates knowledge of physical therapy techniques and technologies.</p> </li><li> <p>Builds effective relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-provider practice environment.</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or Master's degree from an accredited program and a minimum of three (3) years of experience as an outpatient physical therapist treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions, State licensure as a Physical Therapist. OR Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program and a minimum of one (1) year of relevant outpatient experience treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Must hold state licensure as a Physical Therapist in Texas and be in good standing. State licensure as a Physical Therapist.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree with one (1) year of clinical experience in a hospital or outpatient physical therapist treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Working knowledge of and/or experience with Value-Based Healthcare Delivery models. Experience with specialized physical therapy techniques (e.g., manual therapy, sports rehabilitation). Experience delivering care through a multidisciplinary team. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
