<p>Job Description:</p> <p>NEWTOWN PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>POSITION: School Nurse 0.5 Position (12:00 - 4:00 pm M-F)</p> <p>SCHOOL: District Float</p> <p>STARTING DATE: 8/20/25</p> <p>REMUNERATION: per the Newtown Public Schools Contract</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Provide routine and emergency school health care, including medication administration, to students PreK - Grade 12 </li><li>Promote and protect the optimal physical, social and emotional health of school-age children in order to support the education process </li><li>Implement all federal, state and local screening mandates and laws </li><li>Observe, identify and address health patterns and atypical findings. </li><li>Maintain, evaluate and interpret cumulative health data to accommodate individual needs of the students. </li><li>Provide health education and appropriate referrals to community resources for students and </li><li>families. </li><li>Serve as a liaison between the student, school and home. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Education: Bachelor's degree required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. </li><li>Current Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice nursing in the State of Connecticut. </li><li>Current CPR Certification required. </li><li>Minimum of one year experience in hospital nursing, school health nursing, community health nursing, or pediatric nursing. </li><li>Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Solid technology skills and knowledge of Google sheets and docs. </li></ul> <p>The Newtown Public School District values the benefits that a diverse workforce brings to our students and community.
