<p>Description</p> <p>Lee County is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Planner in the Transit department. The incumbent establishes methodology and uses existing procedures for transit-related data utilized in reporting for internal county use and external private and public entities.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Assists with all areas of transit planning to include land use, zoning, community development, emergency management, and geospatial sciences. </li><li>Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the federally required National Transit Database reporting. </li><li>Maintain the geographic information system database of transit system performance. </li><li>Prepare and publish the General Transit Feed Specification and monitor real-time GTFS data for external trip planning applications. </li><li>Research and compile information on a variety of planning and policy topics. </li><li>Analyze and prepare reports, maps, charts, and tables for a variety of transit data. </li><li>Evaluate transit performance trends and communicate findings. </li><li>Prepares daily farebox revenue and ridership reconciliations. </li><li>Communicates problems and suggests corrective action related to the use of passenger transportation system technologies. </li><li>Planning and scheduling LeeTran bus services and helps coordinate efforts with other Lee County departments and external stakeholders. </li><li>Utilization of transit Intelligent Vehicle Network (IVN/CAD-AVL) software for transit service scheduling. </li><li>Fulfill public data requests pertaining to fixed route performance data. </li><li>Assist in establishing methodology and utilize existing procedures for the compilation of transit-related data for reporting. </li><li>Coordinate transit services responsibilities and applications with other county departments, municipalities, and private or public sector entities. </li><li>Responsibilities may include making presentations to various committees. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education, Experience, Licensing</p> <ul> <li>Education/Experience:Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's degree in planning, computer science, or a closely related field and two years of urban planning or closely related experience. </li><li>License:Possession of a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required. </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <ul> <li>Python, ArcPy, and ArcGIS experience preferred. </li><li>National Transit Database (NTD) experience is preferred. </li><li>Utilization of planning and scheduling software, as well as CAD AVL, is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Methods and procedures used in the development and analysis of planning information. Community trends and market analysis techniques. </li><li>Statistical analysis techniques and formulas relevant to the planning process. </li></ul> <p>Ability to:</p> <ul> <li>Create maps and analyze spatial information in ArcGIS. </li><li>Create clear and compelling presentations and graphics in PowerPoint and/or graphics editing software. </li><li>Create and organize complex data spreadsheets, including the use of calculating formulas. </li><li>Present ideas and requirements clearly and persuasively, orally and in writing, to diverse, internal and external technical and non-technical audiences. </li><li>Perform difficult and complex technical research and analysis of planning issues or problems, evaluate alternatives, and recommend or adopt effective courses of action. </li><li>Interpret and present maps, graphs, statistical data, and visual displays clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences. </li><li>Analyze complex confidential problems, evaluate alternatives and make sound, appropriate recommendations. </li></ul> <p>Theworkdays and hoursare Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.</p>
