<p>POSITION TITLE: Business Intelligence Developer II</p> <p>COMPENSATION: Pursuant to Colorado regulations, if this job is performed in Colorado, the salary range is $95,000 - $105,000 plus bonus potential. Eligible to participate in the company benefits plan. We offer health, vision, dental, and pet insurance. We offer a 401(k) retirement plan, student loan assistance, licensing and continuing education reimbursement, parental leave, and housing allowances or gifts.</p> <p>DIRECT REPORT: Business Intelligence Cloud Architect</p> <p>SUMMARY: The Business Intelligence Developer II is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing BI solutions that support Cardinal's end-to-end BI and Analytics ecosystem. The BI Developer II will partner with the BI Architect and key business stakeholders to design, implement, and optimize data models and reporting structures within Cardinal's EDW, gather and translate business and technical requirements, and help govern Cardinal's back-end data platform.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES (Included but not limited to)</p> <ul> <li>Design, build, and optimize technical solutions that meet business needs by delivering data in an efficient, scalable, and durable manner within Cardinal's EDW. </li><li>Lead data modeling efforts through requirements gathering, process documentation, and data discovery efforts. </li><li>Design and implement advanced data models in SQL, including: </li><li>Table definitions </li><li>Complex procedure builds </li><li>Advanced function development </li><li>Optimized view definitions </li><li>Perform and present complex ad-hoc analyses of relevant business processes. </li><li>Provide front-end support in our Business Intelligence tool, including dashboard maintenance, managing ETL data flows, and occasionally designing and building new reports. </li><li>Proactively diagnose, debug, and resolve inaccuracies and inconsistencies within deployed database objects. </li><li>Establish, document, and champion standard operating procedures and warehousing standards. </li><li>Own and maintain data dictionaries and metadata repositories. </li><li>Optimize and monitor daily database operations, including diagnosing and resolving inefficiencies and instabilities. </li><li>Enforce and improve a governed data environment through the application of warehousing standards, best practices, and established conventions as defined with the BI Architect. </li><li>Serve as a key technical liaison to business stakeholders, managing support needs and translating feature requests into technical solutions. </li><li>Mentor Junior Developers through code reviews, technical guidance, and best-practice enforcement. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>3-5 years of relevant data experience. </li><li>Bachelor's Degree in relevant areas of study or equivalent professional experience. </li><li>Intermediate proficiency in SQL development, including table definitions, procedure, function development, and view definitions. </li><li>Demonstrated experience applying database modeling patterns (First, Second, and Third Normal Form, Dimensional Modeling, or Data Vault). </li><li>Experience in public cloud environments, such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure </li><li>Proficiency with open-source database management systems such as PostgreSQL. </li><li>Expertise in designing and implementing ETL/ELT solutions. </li><li>Strong project management skills with the ability to manage daily tasks against established priorities to meet commitments. </li><li>Strong attention to detail in ensuring data quality. </li><li>Strong commitment to continue to learn, build skills, and mentor others. </li><li>Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills required to interact with colleagues, clients, and senior leadership. </li><li>Ability to develop productive business relationships with internal team members through cooperation, courtesy, and professionalism. </li><li>Excellent at troubleshooting complex issues. </li><li>Ability to embody the Cardinal Culture and Cardinal's Core Values every day. </li></ul> <p>TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li>Intermediate-level experience in SQL Development and all aspects of SDLC with Source Code Control, GitHub, and Code Reviews. </li><li>Proven ability to develop, debug, and optimize complex SQL queries, Stored Procedures, and Functions, particularly in cloud data warehouses, such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift. </li><li>Proficiency in relational database engines, such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server. </li><li>Proficient experience building and maintaining data visualizations and data models in Business Intelligence Tools, such as Domo, Tableau, or Looker. </li><li>Experience with modern data lake architectures and technologies, such as Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg. </li><li>Proficient with data structures such as JSON, Parquet, CSV, etc. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Routine local travel is required to attend training classes, client visits, or other situations necessary for the accomplishment of some or all of the daily responsibilities of this position.
