<p>The Aide is responsible for performing housekeeping duties in patient and public areas to ensure a clean, attractive and safe environment throughout the facility. Examples of these areas include but are not limited to: patient rooms, utility rooms, nurses stations, bathrooms, locker rooms, exam rooms, and offices.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Performs cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and prescribed methods. </li><li>Work assignments are given at the beginning of each shift by the supervisor </li><li>Empty waste baskets and reline baskets with clean liners. </li><li>The inside and outside of the wastebaskets must be cleaned prior to relining. </li><li>When necessary, tie bag around container to prevent bag from falling into wastebasket. </li><li>Perform high/low dusting in assigned areas. </li><li>Using high duster, begin at the doorway and dust all high surfaces clockwise around the room. </li><li>If patient is in bed DO NOT dust over patient. </li><li>Use a treated dust cloth to do low areas such as window sills, chairs, picture frames, etc. </li><li>Dust mop the floor, starting in the far corner opposite the door, utilizing the "s" stroke to the door. </li><li>Use a broom and dust pan to pick up debris. </li><li>Then wet mop the floor using the same pattern and a germicidal solution, changing water every three rooms. </li><li>Damp wipe and spot clean. </li><li>Wipe tabletops, phones, TV cord, doorknobs, etc., using germicidal solution to prevent spread of microorganisms. </li><li>Clean and polish all metal and porcelain fixtures using designated chemical. </li><li>Clean and polish all metal surfaces to give an attractive appearance to area. </li><li>Spot clean walls daily. </li><li>Replenish room supplies in assigned areas - all dispensers (toilet paper, paper towels, seat covers, and hand soap). </li><li>Perform patient room checkout for all transfer/discharges. </li><li>In addition to the daily cleaning, the closets and bedside/overbed tables get cleaned inside with germicidal solution. </li><li>Vacuum and maintain carpet in assigned area. </li><li>All carpets are to be vacuumed daily with upright sweepers. </li><li>Spot carpet daily as needed. </li><li>Clean showers. </li><li>Transport trash from utility rooms and collection spots to pickup points for transfer to compactor. </li><li>Clean isolation rooms in assigned area in accordance with Infection Control policy and procedures which are based on Standard Precautionary measures. </li><li>Assist in cleaning of emergency situations that are observed or as requested, even if not in assigned area. </li><li>Observe and report the needs for repairs to hospital equipment, furniture, building and fixtures to supervisor. </li><li>Maintain arrangement of furniture in patient rooms, offices, lounges, etc. </li><li>Understand proper usage of chemicals, dilution and usage. </li><li>Always measure chemicals, do not pour. </li><li>If uncertain, always consult supervisor. </li><li>Understand Lutheran Hospital's policies and procedures so that adherence is maintained. </li><li>Be familiar with employee handbook. </li><li>Participate in all in-service training sessions as scheduled. </li><li>Employee is required to attend all department in-services and hospital in-services as assigned. </li><li>Provide coverage for Laundry workers on an "as needed basis." </li><li>Accept assignments by supervisor. </li><li>Employee is expected to carry out assignments as given to you by your supervisor. </li><li>Perform any other task as assigned. </li><li>Supervisor will assign method and procedure for other related tasks. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High School or GED preferred. </li></ul> <p>Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>None required </li></ul> <p>Complexity of Work:</p> <ul> <li>Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. </li><li>Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. </li><li>CCHS ORGANIZTION-WIDE COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS: </li><li>All employees are expected to meet the standards of performance outlined in the Organization-Wide Competencies listed below as applied to the position. </li><li>Customer Service: Orientation includes attitude, behavior, interpersonal skills, and problem solving that enable an employee to respond to internal and external customer needs and expectations in a positive manner. </li><li>Adaptability includes teamwork, flexibility needed to fulfill job responsibilities, adapting to changes in work environment and accepting supervisory feedback. </li><li>Efficiency and Effectiveness includes quantity and quality if desired work, as well as organization skills necessary to perform successfully. </li><li>Essential Job requirements include adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines affecting the work environment, as well as maintenance of required competencies and communications skills. </li><li>Managerial Responsibilities (if applicable) include overall accountability for assigned workgroup relative to operational goals, personal requirements, and budgetary constraints. </li><li>As an organization, all employees with patient contact are expected to demonstrate competencies, specific to their job duties, for the following patient population categories: Elderly, Children, Cardiac, Neuro, Surgical, Impaired (Hearing/Visual), Cultural, Age. Note: The above stated duties are intended to outline those functions typically performed by individuals assigned to this classification. </li><li>This description of duties is not intended to be all inclusive or to limit the discretionary authority of supervisors to assign other tasks of similar nature or level of responsibility. </li></ul> <p>Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>None required. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Performance of job duties requires standing, stooping, bending and walking for a duration of an eight hour shift. </li><li>Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. </li><li>Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. </li></ul> <p>Personal Protective Equipment:</p> <ul> <li>Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. </li></ul> <p>Salaries [which may be] shown on independent job search websites reflect various market averages and do not represent information obtained directly from The Cleveland Clinic.
