<p>Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Aquatics Coordinator position includes the following duties:</p> <ul> <li>Assists the Recreation Supervisor in the daily operations of the aquatic's facilities. </li><li>Provides direct monitoring of Pool Managers, Lifeguards, Head Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, Guest Service, and Concession staff, and the quality of service being provided. </li><li>Ensures exceptional safety standards are maintained. </li><li>Oversees Guest Services, Staff Training, Programs, Concessions, and Special Events </li><li>Coordinator staff are required to be available starting in April for training and pool set-up. The pools are open mid-May through Labor Day weekend. The Aquatics Coordinators are expected to be available throughout the entire season unless otherwise noted at hiring. </li><li>Availability for potential internship for those seeking college credit - must inquire at time of interview. </li><li>Indirectly supervises 20-30 staff at a given time across two aquatic facilities. </li><li>Leads with onsite supervision and communication; assists with scheduling, training, and evaluating employees. </li><li>Assists the Recreation Supervisor in planning, organizing, and operating a community aquatics facility including, but not limited to, providing a safe environment for staff and patrons, ensuring exceptional customer service and quality food service. </li><li>Serves as a role model for staff, providing outstanding customer service and decision making. </li><li>Assists Recreation Supervisor in planning, organizing, and executing community aquatic events. </li><li>Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, and the public. </li><li>Maintains the inventory of supplies and equipment in connection with the operation of the pool. Assists the Recreation Supervisor by leading staff in duties necessary for the proper upkeep and maintenance of the pool, offices, and concession area. </li><li>Maintains all necessary documentation for business, operations, program, and staffing under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor including but not limited to staff certifications and in-service/training logs. </li><li>Provides program leadership by overseeing the implementation and performance of aquatic programs including but not limited to: Swim Team and Swimming Lessons </li><li>Monitors chemical balancing, pool maintenance, and monitoring and testing of bodies of water. </li><li>Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required </li><li>Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. A typical way to qualify is: 1 or more years of supervisory experience and a High School Diploma or equivalent. </li><li>Minimum 18 years of age. </li></ul> <p>Licensure or Certification Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer First Aid, and Administering Emergency Oxygen certificate, or ability to obtain before employment required. </li><li>Current American Red Cross Lifeguard or nationally recognized certificate, or the ability to obtain before employment preferred. </li><li>Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Certification preferred. </li><li>Valid and current Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driver's abstract to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna. </li><li>Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services and make recommendations on the modification of existing programs. </li><li>Maintains high standards of health and safety in all aquatics operations, always adhering to industry standards. </li><li>Maintains the facility in a clean and orderly fashion. </li><li>Attend and assist in facilitating all required pre-and in-service training. </li><li>Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by the Recreation Supervisor </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Knowledge of:</p> <ul> <li>Basic recreation principles </li><li>Water Safety & Emergency procedures </li><li>Foodservice regulations </li><li>Positive relationship building and communication. </li><li>Management and supervisory principles and practices </li><li>All computer applications and hardware related to the performance of the essential functions of the job, including recreation reservation and activity software. </li></ul> <p>Skill in:</p> <ul> <li>Cash handling and procedures. </li><li>Performing and executing lifeguarding and CPR techniques </li><li>Conflict resolution </li><li>Working with different age populations </li><li>Time management </li></ul> <p>Ability to: (Mental and Physical Abilities)</p> <ul> <li>Work independently, while being able to lead and supervise others and meet deadlines. </li><li>Adhere to regulations, policies, and procedures required by the State of Ohio, Franklin County Board of Health, the City of Gahanna, and all other regulatory/governing bodies. </li><li>Enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>The employee is subject to inside and outside environment conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards, and atmospheric conditions. </li><li>This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires swimming, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions. </li></ul>
