Come be a part of this dedicated and caring team right in the heart of Hollywood.</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Abstract and assign correct diagnosis and procedure codes to all hospital inpatient-medical records, emergency room records, other ambulatory care records by using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding guidelines.</p> <ul> <li>Assigns correct patient diagnosis and procedure codes. </li><li>Assigns correct DRG assignment. Optimizes the DRG and case mix assignment by using Medicus encoding system. </li><li>Abstracts and collects correct patient information for hospital statistics, OSHPD discharge data reporting and hospital quality improvement project and hospital case mix index. </li><li>Transmits data to business office for billing. </li><li>Consults physicians/surgeons for correct coding/DRG assignments. *Files, looking for reports and other miscellaneous. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Education:</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma </li><li>Completion of Coding course </li></ul> <p>Preferred Education:</p> <ul> <li>N/A </li></ul> <p>Minimum Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. </li><li>Must be able to work in a union environment. </li><li>At least 3 years coding experiences in acute hospital setting or applicable relevant experience. </li><li>Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, pathology </li><li>Detailed knowledge in coding guidelines and prospective payment system </li></ul> <p>Preferred Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>N/A </li></ul> <p>Required Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation:</p> <ul> <li>Current Los Angeles County Fire Card required (within 30 days of employment). </li><li>Coding certification required. </li><li>Assault Response Competency (ARC) (within 30 days of employment </li></ul> <p>Shift: Days</p> <p>Weekly Hours: Varied</p> <p>Type/Status: Per Diem</p> <p>FTE: 0.2</p>
