<p>The City of Orem GIS Division is currently hiring for a GIS Intern. This non-benefited position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in applying GIS technology to support city operations. Under the guidance of GIS professionals, the intern will assist with a variety of tasks related to GIS projects. Responsibilities may include:- Collecting and reporting accurate data in the field using GIS applications.- Assisting with utility and asset inspections, data analysis, and GIS data creation.- Taking GPS shots as needed for data collection and verification.- Working both independently and under the direction of a GIS analyst to produce viable datasets.- Updating GIS databases, preparing maps, and performing other GIS-related tasks as assigned.This role provides valuable experience for students or recent graduates, allowing them to apply the knowledge and skills gained through their education in a real-world environment.- Current student or recent graduate in GIS studies or a related field.- Basic knowledge of GIS software, such as ArcGIS, is preferred.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.- Requires a valid Utah driver license and a good driving record.- Must be physically able to do a lot of walking in all kinds of weather.- Must be able to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.- The successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background investigation.$14.28 - $21.42 per hour depending upon qualifications. SALARY WILL GENERALLY START AT LOWER END OF THE SALARY RANGE.- Up to 28 hours per week as scheduled.- Some accommodation can be made for school schedules.
