<p>St. Charles Community College (SCC) is located just west of St. Louis, in the heart of growing St. Charles County. At SCC, we have a passion for student success. Qualified candidates will have demonstrated success in serving a wide range of student backgrounds.</p> <p>The Academic & Success Coach: Program Manager plays an integral role in the EXCELerator and the college at large. This role provides subject-specific tutoring while serving as a holistic guide to help students navigate their academic journey and connect them with campus resources. This involves developing the broader skills needed for students to have long-term success in both academics and their career. This role serves as tutor, mentor, facilitator of self-discovery, accountability partner, skills developer, and champion of growth and transformation.</p> <p>Program Manager Academic Coach - Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Leadership & Support</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the point of contact for the Academic Coaches offering guidance, mentoring, and troubleshooting support. </li><li>Collaborate closely with the Director to implement strategic initiatives and align coaching efforts with departmental goals. </li><li>Act as a floor manager to ensure smooth daily operations within the EXCELerator and provide leadership presence in the Director's absence. </li></ul> <p>Program Coordination & Development</p> <ul> <li>Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing workshops, student success events, and coaching outreach activities. </li><li>Lead or co-lead departmental initiatives, such as specialized coaching programs (e.g., probation coaching, time management series, midterm check-ins). </li></ul> <p>Training & Supervision</p> <ul> <li>Train, onboard, and provide ongoing professional development for new Academic Coaches and Peer Tutors. </li><li>Supervise Part-Time Academic Coaches and Student Workers. </li><li>Monitor and support coaching quality by reviewing documentation, providing feedback, and facilitating team meetings. </li><li>Help create resource materials, guides, and toolkits for use by Academic Coaches and students. </li></ul> <p>Administrative & Operational Support</p> <ul> <li>Assist with scheduling coverage for front desk and coaching shifts, events, and tutoring support across the center. </li><li>Manage internal communications and assist in preparing materials for staff meetings and training sessions. </li></ul> <p>Academic & Success Coaching Support</p> <ul> <li>Providing individualized academic coaching in either of the following subject areas: Chemistry, Writing, Math, and Biology. </li><li>Serving as a campus mentor/navigator for SCC Students. </li><li>Helping students develop effective learning strategies, study skills, time management, and organizational skills, etc. </li><li>Assisting students in identifying academic strengths and areas for improvement. </li><li>Supporting students in navigating academic challenges, setting goals, and overcoming obstacles. </li><li>Providing proactive outreach to at-risk students and connecting them with resources. </li><li>Develop and distribute supplemental learning materials to support students. </li><li>Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to students, faculty, and administration as needed. </li><li>Plan and execute academic engagement events, such as Study Hall Slam Sessions, Student Empowerment events. </li><li>Collaborate with department chairs to create course review workshops. </li></ul> <p>Program Development and Implementation:</p> <ul> <li>Developing and facilitating workshops, seminars, and training programs on academic success topics. </li><li>Creating and implementing strategies to improve student retention and completion rates. </li><li>Collaborating with faculty and other departments to enhance student support. </li><li>Developing and implementing procedures for programming to include faculty and department input, attendance tracking, and assessment of student progress. </li></ul> <p>Resource and Referral:</p> <ul> <li>Connecting students with campus resources, such as counseling, disability services, student health & wellness, student life, career services, advising, and financial aid. </li><li>Mentor students to help them learn how to self-advocate with their faculty or other support services. </li><li>Participating in SCCs "Teams Supporting Teams" Initiatives; This includes supporting student services area: Academic Advising, Financial Aid, Enrollment Services, Student Activities, Student Health & Wellness. </li></ul> <p>Data Collection and Reporting:</p> <ul> <li>Maintaining regular and accurate records of student interactions and progress in the appropriate system. </li><li>Track student attendance and faculty collaboration at programming events. </li><li>Collecting data and preparing reports on student success and retention initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Attitudes:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Strong customer service background </li><li>Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. </li><li>Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. </li><li>Ability to work cross-departmentally and collaboratively with faculty and staff across campus. </li><li>Ability to successfully resolve student issues from request through resolution. </li><li>Ability to identify campus resources for student needs. </li><li>Skilled at connecting and building rapport with students from diverse backgrounds. </li><li>Effectively work with multiple software platforms including the Microsoft Office 365 Suite </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in education, counseling, or related field </li><li>Minimum 3 or more years' experience working in academic coaching/tutoring, teaching, or job training </li></ul> <p>St. Charles Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.</p>
