<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Elementary School Teaching/Physical Education</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>12/12/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Johnson Elementary</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>01/05/2026</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Description: Elementary PE Teacher (Interim)</p> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION</p> <ul> <li>To provide physical education instruction to all students by incorporating a variety of teaching strategies and integrating other subject matter into daily instruction. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Nurture physical, creative and mental growth for all children grades kindergarten through fourth grade. </li><li>Cultivate caring and cooperative attitudes among students. </li><li>Design and present instructional experiences that are developmentally appropriate for all students and meet them at their point of need. </li><li>Teach good sportsmanship through a wide variety of experiences. </li><li>Encourage children to express their thoughts, feelings, and ideas while increasing physical activity. </li><li>Relate the interdisciplinary connection of physical education to math, reading, music, dance, drama, science, social studies, and history across cultures and time. </li><li>Collaborate with district physical education teachers, related arts specialists, special educators, and classroom teachers to understand, inspire and empower children to reach their full potential. </li><li>Provide guidance and instructional experiences that are academically and developmentally appropriate for each students </li><li>Provide skills and knowledge directly applicable to further specialized study and participation. </li><li>Provide physical education instruction for students in kindergarten - grade 4. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Tennessee Teaching Certification in Physical Education </li><li>Ability to integrate technology and academic subjects in instruction </li><li>Have good communication & strong classroom management skills. </li></ul> <p>Demonstrate Knowledge and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Effectively communicate with various stakeholders </li><li>Ability to care for children </li><li>Knowledge of core academic subject assigned </li><li>Knowledge of curriculum and instruction </li><li>Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior </li><li>Strong organizational and interpersonal skills </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:</p> <ul> <li>Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting </li><li>Frequent walking and physical exercise related to in-class activities </li><li>Regular light lifting (less than 15 pounds); occasionally may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment </li><li>Work inside or outside; regular exposure to noise </li><li>May work prolonged or irregular hours </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer Statement</p> <p>Franklin Special District (FSD) is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
