If you do not mind hard work and want to make a difference in your community, then please consider joining the FMCC family.</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>The Asphalt Division General Manager oversees all asphalt operations, ensuring effective coordination, collaboration, and alignment between office and field personnel. This role is responsible for managing the operations of all asphalt milling crews, including safety compliance, quality control, logistics, equipment selection, and personnel management. The General Manager establishes operational goals and key performance indicators manages budgets and staffing levels, negotiates asphalt material purchases, and develops strategic partnerships with clients, vendors, and industry networks to support business growth and operational efficiency.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, safety, and overall performance </li><li>Provide leadership and direction to Superintendents and Foremen across all paving operations </li><li>Establish and drive operational goals, objectives, and KPIs aligned with company strategy </li><li>Oversee multiple project schedules to ensure production targets, quality standards, and timelines are met </li><li>Manage and optimize personnel, equipment, and resources to maximize efficiency and workflow </li><li>Ensure compliance with all company policies and regulatory requirements, including OSHA, DDOT, VDOT, and MDSHA </li><li>Monitor job site performance through regular site visits, inspections, and safety meetings </li><li>Collaborate with field leadership to plan logistics, including trucking and material delivery </li><li>Negotiate and manage purchasing of asphalt and related materials to control costs and maintain production </li><li>Forecast raw materials and inventory to support short- and long-term operational needs </li><li>Analyze performance metrics to identify gaps, drive improvements, and enhance productivity </li><li>Monitor labor costs, staffing levels, and job costing to ensure financial performance and profitability </li><li>Identify and implement process improvements, cost-saving initiatives, and operational efficiencies </li><li>Support business growth through operational planning, estimating support, and vendor coordination </li><li>Recruit, develop, and lead high-performing teams, including coaching and performance management </li><li>Foster collaboration and communication between field, operations, and executive leadership </li><li>Lead operational meetings and resolve complex issues to maintain project and team alignment </li><li>Stay informed on industry trends and best practices to maintain a competitive advantage </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>15 to 20 years' experience with a minimum of 5 years in management and 10 years in the asphalt industry, </li><li>Proven ability to manage budgets, labor and understand P&L performance, </li><li>Experience managing multiple Superintendents, Foremen and crews on large-scaled paving projects, </li><li>Demonstrated experience in vendor negotiations and purchasing, </li><li>Superior leadership skills, </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills, </li><li>Excellent project management and problem-solving skills, </li><li>High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience required; </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Construction Management preferred, </li><li>Valid driver's license, </li><li>Work may require alternate hours based on client/contract needs - nights, weekends, etc. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, </li><li>Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug & alcohol screening. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <ul> <li>This position operates in a combination of office, asphalt plant, and active construction job site environments, </li><li>Frequent travel to local and regional job sites is required to monitor operations, production, and safety compliance, </li><li>Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, including Extreme heat (especially around asphalt operations), Cold weather, rain, and varying site conditions, </li><li>Exposure to loud noise, heavy equipment, dust, and asphalt materials; use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times in the field. </li></ul> <p>Note: This is an on-site position and requires the ability to work in the office during standard business hours.
