<p>High School Music Teacher JobID: 3838</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>High School Teaching</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>6/3/2026</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Medford High School</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>High School Teacher- Music</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the Director of Fine and Performing Arts and building administration, the Music Teacher facilitates student success and growth in musical, academic, and interpersonal skills through the implementation of district-approved curriculum; the creation of a flexible, engaging, and inclusive learning environment; and the provision of meaningful feedback to students, families, and administration regarding student progress, activities, and expectations.</p> <p>The successful candidate will support and develop a comprehensive music program that may include instrumental ensembles, general music instruction, performance opportunities, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the school community. Experience in choral music and/or drama productions is considered a plus.</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develops and implements curriculum aligned with the Massachusetts Arts Frameworks and district goals. </li><li>Creates a classroom and rehearsal environment that is safe, inclusive, student-centered, and conducive to musical growth and collaboration. </li><li>Plans and delivers engaging lessons and rehearsals that support differentiated instruction and diverse learning needs. </li><li>Directs and manages instrumental ensembles and related performances as assigned. </li><li>Assesses student learning and musical progress using a variety of formal and informal measures. </li><li>Maintains accurate records for grading, attendance, assessment, and communication in accordance with district expectations and the collective bargaining agreement. </li><li>Collaborates with colleagues, families, and administration to support student success and program development. </li><li>Participates in school concerts, performances, festivals, evening events, and professional development activities as required. </li><li>Supports the continued growth of the district's Fine and Performing Arts programs through positive community engagement and collaboration. </li><li>Integrates appropriate technology and contemporary instructional practices into music education. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of current music education pedagogy, differentiated instruction, and best practices in arts education. </li><li>Knowledge of instrumental music instruction for students in grades 912. </li><li>Ability to foster positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community stakeholders. </li><li>Ability to create and maintain an organized, productive, and respectful learning environment. </li><li>Ability to engage in reflective practice and professional growth aligned with district evaluation systems and expectations. </li><li>Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure in Music (appropriate grade levels). </li><li>Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. </li><li>Experience teaching instrumental music in a school setting preferred. </li><li>Experience with choral music, theater/drama productions, or musical direction is a plus. </li></ul>
