<p>Job Goal: The Somerville High School Evening Door and Building Monitor is responsible for monitoring the main entrance of the school, and for maintaining a professional and courteous relationship with the staff, children, and families in the program while also overseeing appropriate use of the building during weekday evening hours.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Strong sense of responsibility and punctuality </li><li>Excellent attendance record </li><li>Excellent organizational skills </li><li>Good interpersonal, customer service and verbal communication skills </li><li>Ability to communicate well with a wide range of people </li><li>Excellent judgment and ability to make decisions when different situations arise </li><li>Experience with building security preferred </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Screens visitors before allowing them into the building </li><li>Communicate with appropriate SPS and City staff to get updated information on evening use of SHS </li><li>Direct visitors to the appropriate location/venue </li><li>Maintain SHS safety protocols such as not propping doors open, only allowing authorized persons into the building </li><li>Answer basic questions about the building and connect people to appropriate resources </li><li>Remove unauthorized persons from building </li><li>Redirect people from unauthorized locations in the building </li><li>Report any misuse of the building </li><li>Note and report building safety or maintenance concerns </li><li>Work with night custodian staff to make sure building is clear of all visitors at the end of the evening </li><li>Communicates issues and concerns to person supervising building activity </li></ul> <p>Terms of Employment:</p> <ul> <li>Yearly Appointment </li><li>Part Time </li><li>Schedule School Year, August 2026-June 2026 </li><li>Up to 19 work hours per week </li><li>Monday-Friday / 6:00pm-9:45pm </li><li>$25.00/hour </li></ul> <p>Position Reports to: School Building Principal and/or designee</p> <p>The Somerville Public Schools does not discriminate in its programs, facilities, or employment or educational opportunities on the basis of race, color, age, religion, disability, pregnancy, home status, marital/civil union status, sex/gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, citizenship status, place of birth, national origin, ancestry, cultural identity, genetics or military status, and does not tolerate any form of retaliation, or bias-based intimidation, threat or harassment that demeans individuals' dignity or interferes with their ability to learn or work.</p>
