<p>Provides or assists with basic direct patient care activities under the supervision of an RN with skills specifically identified on applicable skills checklists for which training and competency have been established.</p> <p>Cleveland Clinic Marymount Hospital's 2 East nursing unit is a medical-surgical unit dedicated to providing general medical care, as well as pre- and post-operative care to patients requiring orthopedic surgical interventions, such as hip and knee replacements and fractures. The unit also specializes in treating patients with congestive heart failure, chest tubes, wound VAC's and endocrinology disorders.</p> <p>Also, a medical-surgical unit, 2 South provides general medical care, as well as post-operative care to patients requiring various surgical procedures, including hysterectomy, TURP's, thyroidectomy cholecystectomy and debridements. This unit also specializes in treating patients with congestive heart failure, chest tubes, NG tubes, GI/GU abnormalities, wound VAC's, colostomy care and endocrinology disorders.</p> <p>Our multi-disciplinary team includes registered nurses, physicians, nurse practitioners, physical and occupational therapists, dietitians, pharmacy support and case management. Each team member has a critical role in helping our patients achieve a full recovery and we provide each patient with individual attention - from pre-surgery education through post-surgery rehabilitation. We strive to use best practices to provide high quality post-operative care, while aiming to exceed the patient's expectations in all areas. Throughout their stay, patients are educated, encouraged and inspired to become an active part of their medical-surgical care - aiming for a full recovery with the best outcomes possible.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to RN. </li><li>These may include but are not limited to vital signs, weights, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, application of external monitoring devices, and removal of urinary Foley Catheter. </li><li>Assists with keeping patient rooms clean & orderly. </li><li>Demonstrates a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff. </li><li>Ability to read, write and speak English and to follow oral and written instructions.. </li><li>Ability to perform basic clinical mathematics. </li><li>Other duties as assigned.
