<p>Connections Classroom Special Education Instructional Assistants High School - 2025/2026</p> <p>Job Goal: The Connections IA coordinates and provides programming for children with intellectual and related disabilities, including instruction in academic, social language, motor, self-regulation, leisure, and life skills.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Provide systemic, individualized instruction in an intensive learning environment with frequent hands-on practice in a variety of settings in a consistent manner as directed by the lead teacher.</p> <p>Teach critical skills across settings to assist students to generalize academic, social, communication/language, health, safety and adaptive life skills in relevant contexts.</p> <p>Provide instruction in a variety of formats (task analysis, discrete trial, incidental teaching, group instruction) and incorporate other evidence-based curricula that best suit the individual student's learning style informed by data.</p> <p>Consult with the Connections Teacher and related service providers to implement behavior plans and individualized reinforcement plans.</p> <p>Meet weekly with support staff to review student data and programs, curriculum, and student behavioral issues.</p> <p>Participate in district-provided safety and de-escalation training.</p> <p>Utilize skills and strategies as needed and in accordance with behavior management plans.</p> <p>Perform other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in special education or education preferred. </li><li>Good organizational and communication skills </li></ul> <p>Compensation:</p> <p>In accordance with the Instructional Assistants' Contract, white scale</p> <p>The Burlington Public Schools prohibit discrimination and harassment on the basis of sex in any education program or activity that it operates.
