<p>Position Summary</p> <p>As an HR Assistant, you will be responsible for performing various human resources duties, primarily focusing on coordinating recruitment and staffing activities.</p> <p>Duties include:</p> <ul> <li>Providing consultation to supervisors on recruitment and staffing activities while ensuring compliance with Wisconsin Human Resources Handbook and DHS policies and procedures. </li><li>Serving as contact for communication to the public regarding SWC employment. </li><li>Processing new hires and other personnel transactions and maintaining personnel files using the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), PeopleSoft. </li><li>Assisting with recruitment and staffing activities of vacant positions. </li><li>Assisting with employment relations activities. </li><li>Working independently and as part of a team. </li></ul> <p>Salary Information</p> <ul> <li>The starting pay is between $27.25 and $30.75 per hour (approximately between $56,600 to $63,900 per year), plus excellent benefits. </li><li>A 12-month probationary period is required. </li><li>This position is classified as a Human Resources Assistant - Advanced and is in pay schedule and range 81/04. </li><li>Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. </li></ul> <p>Job Details</p> <ul> <li>All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DOA to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. </li><li>Employees at SWC will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date. </li><li>Employees must have access to both a private workspace and secure high-speed internet for hybrid remote work option. </li><li>DOA does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Experience or training performing HR activities through work experience, internships, and/or course work. (e.g., conducting background or reference checks, creating appointment letters, reviewing documentation to ensure accuracy and completion, onboarding new employees, maintaining personnel files, communicating HR resources to supervisors or job applicants, posting vacancies on job boards, compiling HR documentation for review, etc.) </li><li>Experience using computer software programs to perform tasks (e.g., document creation, data entry, report production, data analysis, etc.). </li><li>Experience providing customer service to internal or external partners in a professional environment (e.g. answering questions, providing guidance, working through issues, etc.). </li></ul> <p>Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:</p> <ul> <li>Formal education or training in HR (e.g. coursework, certifications, etc.). </li><li>Experience performing full-cycle recruitment and selection activities from vacancy to hire (e.g., creating or updating position descriptions, developing job announcements/postings, reviewing or recommending compensation requests, developing applicant screening criteria, etc.). </li><li>Experience with employment relations activities (e.g. reviewing employee discipline documents for accuracy and completion, assisting management with work rule interpretation, assisting with drafting or reviewing employee discipline letters, etc.). </li></ul> <p>The letter of qualifications is limited to one (1) page and your resume is limited to three (3) pages.
