Our owners are proud Utahns.</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Summary: Under supervision from the shop foreman, a mechanic is responsible for repairs, servicing and maintaining equipment and machinery in an efficient and safe manner.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Repairs and preventative maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment such as loaders, rollers, paving equipment, mixer trucks, etc... </li><li>Assist in the maintenance shops as needed. </li><li>Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment. </li><li>Prepare and maintain records and reports. </li><li>Maintain tools as required to do the job. </li><li>Maintain insurable driving record. </li><li>Ensure a safe and healthful work environment at all time. </li></ul> <p>Education and/or Experience:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED. </li><li>Enrollment in a Diesel Technician Program preferred (Applied Technology College, SLCC, UVU, etc.). </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Attention and commitment to safety </li><li>Ability to work well with others in a team environment </li><li>Must have vocational training in preventative maintenance, brake systems, and basic wiring. </li><li>Must be able to work varying shifts and long hours. </li><li>Ability to move 50 pounds </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.</p> <ul> <li>Sitting: 10% of time. </li><li>Standing: 60% - 70% of the time. </li><li>Climbing: 20%-30% of the time. This includes shop ladders, equipment access ladders, and climbing under equipment for maintenance. </li><li>Driving: 20%-30% of the time for road calls, and pulling equipment in and out of the shop. </li><li>Weight Lifted: Must frequently be able to lift and carry up to 50-70 pounds. Heavy items may be required to be lift above one's head and maneuvered while sitting, kneeling and laying down. For safety, assistance will be provided for heavy objects. </li><li>Physical Movement: May frequently be required to walk and work over uneven ground, balance, stoop/crouch, kneel, grab, drag, climb and hold objects. </li><li>Working Conditions: 70% of time will be spent working in the shop, and 30% will be field/ road call work. </li><li>Physical Demands /Safety are dependent on location of position.
