<p>About Us:</p> <p>At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. You will be able to access and complete the application through "My Draft Applications" located on your Candidate Home page.</p> <p>Job Posting Title:</p> <p>Postdoctoral Researcher - Nutrition and Chronic Disease</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Other Academic</p> <p>Department:</p> <p>LSUPBRC Clinic - Nutrition and Chronic Disease (Candida Joan Rebello (00006739))</p> <p>Work Location:</p> <p>LSU - Pennington Biomedical</p> <p>Pay Grade:</p> <p>Other Academic</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Nutrition and Chronic Disease Laboratory.</p> <p>The postdoctoral researcher will have responsibilities that contribute to advancing knowledge in mechanistic, controlled feeding and supervised exercise trials designed to isolate how diet alters energy balance, body composition, and muscle function in older adults with obesity and insulin resistance.</p> <p>Major Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Design and conduct experimental and/or clinical studies investigatin obesity, insulin resistance, physical performance, nutrition, and their links to chronic disease and mental health.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and apply advanced methodologies to assess metabolic function, body composition, dietary intake, and physical performance.</p> </li><li> <p>Investigate mechanisms by which food, exercise, and physiology influence chronic disease risk and aging-related outcomes.</p> </li><li> <p>Collect, process, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using statistical software and, when appropriate, bioinformatics tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyze and interpret research data, prepare reports, and contribute to drafting manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.</p> </li><li> <p>Present research findings at scientific conferences, seminars, and institutional meetings</p> </li><li> <p>Develop leadership and collaborative skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Engage in Pennington Biomedical Research Center activities for postdoctoral researchers.</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ph.D. in a relevant field such as Nutrition, Endocrinology, Metabolism, Biomedical Sciences, or related disciplines.</p> </li><li> <p>Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic dysfunction, nutrition and dietary interventions, physical performance, muscle physiology, or functional aging, interactions among metabolic health, mental health, and chronic disease, human clinical research, body composition assessment.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience designing and executing hypothesis driven research with a strong publication record.</p> </li><li> <p>Dietary assessment or intervention implementation.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong quantitative skills, including statistical analysis and data interpretation.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with human participants with metabolic disease is preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Pennington Biomedical Research Center (PBRC) is an equal employment opportunity employer and serves as a model employer for individuals with disabilities.</p> <p>Additional Job Description:</p> <p>This position is not eligible for remote work.</p> <p>Competencies:</p> <p>None</p> <p>Special Instructions:</p> <p>Interested candidates should include a curriculum vitae and a statement of research interests (one or two pages).
