<p>Title: Teacher - School Counselor (Soko) (SY25-26)</p> <p>ABOUT CHELSEA PUBLIC SCHOOLS:</p> <p>The Chelsea Public Schools (CPS) is a gateway school system that welcomes and educates all students and families. More information about CPS can be found on our website at www.chelseaschools.com/cps.</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION</p> <p>The Elementary School Counseling Program provides education, prevention and intervention activities, which are integrated into all aspects of students' lives. The program teaches knowledge, attitudes and skills students need to acquire in academic, career and social/emotional development, which serve as the foundation for future success. The goal is for all students to achieve optimal personal growth, acquire positive social skills and values, build career awareness and realize their full academic potential to become productive, contributing members of their community and society.</p> <p>Elementary School Counselor responsibilities include and are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Provide education, prevention and intervention activities that support the academic, social/emotional and career development of every child by removing barriers to student learning ? Provide delivery of a school counseling core curriculum to all students with the goal of teaching students the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary for academic, career and social/ emotional development </li><li>Support students through individual meetings in the development and implementation of academic plans by identifying personal goals, strengths and interests </li><li>Provide individual and small group counseling to strengthen study skills, increase awareness of executive function skills, build motivation, provide stress management support, learning of coping strategies, and develop conflict resolution skills </li><li>Use data to identify gaps in student achievement and provide intervention opportunities that are unique to meeting the needs of each student </li><li>Monitor at-risk students and provide individualized support and planning </li><li>Prepare and support student transition to the Middle Schools and from the Early Learning Center ? Participate in the IST process </li><li>Oversee 504 planning and implementation </li><li>Work on the content and delivery method of our curriculum in order to provide equitable access for all students and families </li><li>Provide ongoing communication with families in regards to progress in all domains ? Work proactively and collaborate with family members, other educators, and community stakeholders to support students in achieving academic success, personal/social development, and career awareness goals </li><li>Facilitate family workshops throughout the school year </li><li>Ongoing communicate with administration regarding the delivery of programs and activities that support and promote student achievement in all domains </li><li>Maintain professional knowledge and skills for working in a diverse and multicultural work setting through PD opportunities offered within the community and through other resources </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>MA DESE School Counselor Licensure, Grades PreK-9 </li><li>Hold a Master's degree in School Counseling </li><li>Experience working in an urban educational setting </li><li>Spanish speaking preferred </li><li>Has working knowledge of ASCA and MASCA frameworks and standards </li><li>Experience in a collaborative educational environment and shared decision-making modeled on Professional Learning Communities is highly desirable. </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of School Counseling & School Principal</p> <p>TERMS: In accordance with the contract with the Chelsea Teachers Union (CTU).</p> <p>EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER:</p> <p>Chelsea Public Schools is committed to maintaining a work and learning environment free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital/civil union status, ancestry, place of birth, age, citizenship status, veteran status, political affiliation, genetic information or disability, as defined and required by state and federal laws.
