As an Industrial Wastewater Engineering Associate I in the Bureau of Water, you'll gain hands-on experience reviewing designs, developing permits, and working directly with industries and engineers to ensure clean water for our state's citizens. You'll receive guidance and mentorship while building the skills to work independently in the field of environmental engineering.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <p>Under supervision, you will:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and review permits for industrial wastewater discharges under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and No Discharge (ND) programs. </li><li>Review engineering reports, plans, and specifications for industrial wastewater facilities and prepare construction permits. </li><li>Determine General Permit coverage for qualifying discharges. </li><li>Work with industry representatives, consulting engineers, and internal staff to formulate permit conditions. </li><li>Interpret and apply environmental regulations, policy, and technical guidance. </li><li>Provide information and technical assistance to the public, industrial representatives, and consulting engineers. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Director and supervisor. </li></ul> <p>What We're Looking For</p> <ul> <li>A detail-oriented engineer or environmental professional with strong problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to review, interpret and apply environmental regulations, policies, and guidance. </li><li>Strong communication skills for working with diverse stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>A Bachelor's degree in engineering. </li></ul> <p>Your engineering degree must be accredited by EAC/ABET, CEAB, and Programs Recognized in the ABET "Washington Accord" Listings or you must provide an approved equivalency letter from The South Carolina Department of Labor Licensing & Regulation ( LLR).</p> <p>Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.</p> <p>Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application are encouraged to upload an unofficial copy of the transcript as an attachment to the application.
